A girl with a passion for history.
Do Thi Hong Thi confided: “When the Ministry of Education and Training announced the answer keys for the exams, knowing that I had achieved two perfect scores of 10 in History and Chinese, I felt incredibly happy and proud to have successfully achieved my goal. For many students, History is often associated with dense timelines and monumental events that are difficult to remember. But for Thi, History is a great passion that was kindled and nurtured from her middle school years. Thi confided: “When I immerse myself in the world of History, I realize that it is not dry words or cold numbers of the past, but a vibrant flow where historical moments seem to ignite again. History has taught me many profound lessons about life, about how our nation has resiliently risen after countless hardships, and about the noble qualities of its people. That is why I love and am so attached to this subject.”
Besides her love for History, Thi is also passionate about learning Chinese – a foreign language she has been involved with since the 6th grade. Recognizing her strong aptitude and confidence in achieving high scores, Thi proactively chose Chinese as her subject for the high school graduation exam .
“I love learning Chinese because it not only provides me with a new skill to improve myself, but it's also the ‘key’ that helps me gradually step out into the world and broaden my perspective. Furthermore, in the current context, Chinese is a huge competitive advantage in the job market. Mastering this language early on is a solid foundation for my future,” Thi shared.
Before entering the 2026 high school graduation exam, Thi's knowledge base is very solid, having consistently achieved many accomplishments: First prize in the provincial-level History competition for gifted students in the 2025-2026 school year, Second prize in the national-level History competition for gifted students in the 2025-2026 school year, and passing the HSK 6 Chinese language proficiency test (the highest level of the HSK 6 system) in 2026.

To achieve those "sweet fruits," Thi developed a scientific and consistent learning method for herself. Thi's core principle is to always deeply understand the essence, the stories, and the driving factors behind each event, thereby deciphering all her own questions.
By applying this principle to History, Thi can approach problems systematically and logically. This learning method helps Thi absorb knowledge quickly, connect issues coherently, and transform learning History into a journey of discovering the unknown, thereby maintaining her passion.

Through persistent self-study throughout her high school years, Thi asserts that the combination of self-reliance and information technology has yielded groundbreaking results. According to her, self-study helps students shift from a "passive" to an "active" approach, encouraging exploration and independent thinking instead of rote memorization.
Furthermore, information technology serves as a vast repository of knowledge. Whenever faced with a difficult problem or a complex historical event, Thi utilizes the internet to search for research papers and documentary videos from various reputable sources to gain a multifaceted perspective. Hong Thi also optimizes her memorization by digitizing lessons through mind maps and modern note-taking applications to quickly master the knowledge.
When asked about the secret to achieving a perfect score in the exam, the top-scoring student shared: constantly identifying and correcting one's own mistakes.
Hong Thi believes that during the process of self-study, learners easily make subjective judgments or accept unverified knowledge. To avoid being led astray, she cross-references and verifies information from reputable sources. "This continuous process of self-correction not only helps me refine my thinking and fill in knowledge gaps, but also gives me absolute steadfastness in answering every question," Thi confided.
