On the evening of June 27th, the official announcement ceremony for the Michelin Guide list for Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang, in collaboration with destination partner Sun Group , took place in District 1 (Ho Chi Minh City). This also marks the first time Da Nang has been included in the Michelin Guide award categories.
The important award categories, including Michelin Stars, Bib Gourmand (restaurants with good food at affordable prices), Michelin Selected (restaurants recommended by the Michelin Guide), and Michelin Guide Special Awards, were announced at this event.
Seven restaurants in 2024 were awarded a Michelin star for "high-quality cuisine worthy of a visit." Three of these are new restaurants: Akuna, La Maison 1888, and The Royal Pavilion. Four restaurants received their stars for the second year: Anan Saigon, Gia, Hibana by Koki at Capella Hanoi Hotel, and Tam Vi.
Upon receiving the prestigious Michelin star for the first time, a representative from Akuna restaurant stated that he was deeply honored to be on stage receiving this prestigious award. The restaurant representative thanked the Akuna team for their support in achieving this recognition.

This is the first year that Vietnam has had a restaurant selected for the Michelin Green Star list. This honors pioneering dining establishments that strive towards building sustainable cuisine . The Michelin Green Star recognizes restaurants that are committed to delivering positive values and inspiring the philosophy of exemplary restaurants. The first restaurant in Vietnam to achieve a Michelin Green Star is Nén Danang restaurant.

Previously, the Michelin Guide in Vietnam had announced an early list of Bib Gourmand establishments in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, totaling 42 eateries, including 18 in Hanoi and 24 in Ho Chi Minh City. At the announcement ceremony, Da Nang had a total of 16 establishments honored in the Bib Gourmand category.

The meaning of Michelin stars
One star: “High-quality cooking, worth a stop!”, according to the current Michelin Guide. A Michelin star may be the lowest award, but only a very small percentage of restaurants worldwide have earned one.
Two stars: “Excellent cooking, worth returning to!” is a two-Michelin-star restaurant. Two-star restaurants consistently offer high-quality food, are owned by some of the best chefs, and have long waiting lists for reservations.
Three stars: “Exceptional cuisine, well worth the price for a special trip!” Three stars are only awarded to the best restaurants.
