Bringing books to apartment buildings.
The launching ceremony for the 6th Ho Chi Minh City Children's Book Fair - 2026, with the theme "I enjoy reading, learning many good things," was held at Sora Gardens Apartment Complex, Binh Duong Ward.
This is the opening activity for the Book Fair's series of programs, and also a practical event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the day Saigon-Gia Dinh City was officially honored with the name of President Ho Chi Minh (July 2, 1976 - July 2, 2026).

Representatives from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports stated that developing a reading culture is an investment in the future, contributing to building a learning society and developing high-quality human resources. Therefore, children should actively participate in book fair activities, nurture a love of reading, and continuously learn and train themselves to become useful citizens for society.
The book fair offers a variety of engaging activities such as: author and book interactions; interaction with Reading Culture Ambassadors; storytelling and drawing based on books; STEM experiences; learning about local history and culture; art programs for children; and many reading, creative, and experiential spaces for children and their families.
In Dien Hong ward, the Ho Chi Minh City General Publishing House, in coordination with the Dien Hong Ward People's Committee, organized the launching ceremony of the reading promotion movement and the Children's Book Fair 2026 at the 7th floor of Xi Grand Court Apartment Building.

The highlight of the program was the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between the Ho Chi Minh City General Publishing House and the People's Committee of Dien Hong Ward to implement activities to develop reading culture, build reading spaces, and bring books closer to the people, especially the younger generation.
On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City General Publishing House donated a children's bookshelf containing 170 books to the residents of Xi Grand Court Apartment Complex, contributing to creating a beneficial reading space for children during the summer. At the same time, the People's Committee of Dien Hong Ward also donated trees with the message of working together to build a green living environment, linking the cultivation of knowledge with sustainable development.
Mr. Ha Tuan Phuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Hong Ward, shared: "In today's era of rapidly developing digital technology, accessing information has become easier than ever. However, reading culture still plays a particularly important role. Reading books not only helps accumulate knowledge but also trains thinking skills, develops creativity, language skills, and forms a lifelong learning habit. For children, books are the gateway to a rich world of knowledge, helping them access lessons about patriotism, family affection, friendship, compassion, a sense of responsibility, and aspirations for success in life."

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Ho Chi Minh City General Publishing House, through the signing of cooperation agreements to develop reading culture and the donation of "Children's Bookcases," the General Publishing House hopes that the seeds of knowledge will flourish and spread widely throughout the community. "In the future, the Ho Chi Minh City General Publishing House will expand the signing of strategic agreements in the development of reading culture to more units and residential areas," Mr. Nguyen Thanh Loi stated.
Establishing community libraries for workers.
As part of the series of events in response to the 6th Ho Chi Minh City Children's Book Fair in 2026, Binh Duong Library, in coordination with the local government, the Management Board of Becamex Hoa Loi Social Housing Area, and landlords, organized a program to donate three community bookshelves at the following locations: Becamex Hoa Loi Social Housing Area (Binh Duong Ward), Mr. Nguyen Van Vuong's boarding house in Suoi Sau Hamlet (Bac Tan Uyen Commune), and Mr. Tran Dinh Cuong's boarding house in Thanh Binh neighborhood (Thuan An Ward). This is part of the "Joining Hands to Build Bookshelves for Workers" program launched by Binh Duong Library from April 15th to June 15th.

With the desire to bring knowledge closer to workers, laborers, and their children living in dormitories and social housing areas, the program has received a positive response from many agencies, units, businesses, and readers. After more than two months of launching, nearly 2,000 books in various fields such as life skills, law, healthcare, popular science, literature, children's books, etc., have been received, categorized, and selected for donation. Each location received a bookshelf with 500 books from the Binh Duong Library, creating a friendly reading space to serve the learning, entertainment, and spiritual needs of the people.
Mr. Nguyen Van Vuong, owner of a boarding house in Suoi Sau hamlet, Bac Tan Uyen commune, shared: “We are very happy and moved that our boarding house was chosen as one of the locations to receive a Community Bookcase. This is a meaningful gift not only for the workers living in the boarding house but also for the children.”

Mr. Nguyen Van Vuong stated that he will strive to manage and maintain the bookshelf well, while also encouraging residents, workers, and children to regularly visit and read, together building a healthy and enriching cultural living environment. He hopes to continue receiving the attention and support of all levels of government, relevant agencies, and the Binh Duong Library to have more cultural activities, creating opportunities for workers to access knowledge, improve their spiritual lives, and build a united and compassionate community.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hue, Director of Binh Duong Library, in the coming time, Binh Duong Library will continue to coordinate with localities to expand the Community Bookcase model to many residential areas, boarding houses, and worker housing areas in the province. He hopes that the Management Board of Becamex Social Housing Area and the owners of the boarding houses who have just received the bookcases will continue to pay attention to managing, preserving, and effectively utilizing the bookcases, making them friendly cultural addresses, places to connect and create healthy living spaces, contributing to building a healthy cultural life and spreading a reading culture.

With the theme "I enjoy reading, learning many good things," the 6th Ho Chi Minh City Children's Book Fair not only provides a beneficial cultural playground during the summer but also affirms the determination to bring books closer to the people through practical service models right in residential areas.
The donated books represent not only the sharing of knowledge but also the sense of responsibility and community support in caring for the cultural and spiritual lives of workers, laborers, and their children in housing and lodging areas in the locality.
This is also an important direction in building friendly cultural institutions, developing a reading culture from the grassroots level, contributing to building a learning society, improving the cultural and spiritual life of the people, and nurturing a generation of Ho Chi Minh City citizens who are knowledgeable, humane, and creative in the new era.
