The mark of a term filled with hard work.
According to Mr. Ha Van Cat, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, the 2021-2026 term took place under conditions with a mix of advantages and disadvantages. Besides the attention of the Party and State to social welfare and humanitarian activities, the locality still faced major challenges such as the lingering consequences of war, natural disasters, epidemics, and a high percentage of poor households and vulnerable groups.

"Under those circumstances, the merger of the former Binh Dinh Provincial Red Cross Society and the Gia Lai Provincial Red Cross Society into the Gia Lai Provincial Red Cross Society has opened up a broader space for development, creating conditions to leverage the strengths, experience, resources, and staff of the two localities," Mr. Cat emphasized.
Overcoming difficulties and challenges, the Red Cross branches at all levels have comprehensively implemented all aspects of their work and achieved many outstanding results. After the merger, the province has 135 commune and ward branches, 3,337 sub-branches, 17 clubs and volunteer groups with more than 61,000 members and 56,000 volunteers and Red Cross youth. This is the core force directly bringing humanitarian activities to the community.
Over the past five years, the total value of humanitarian activities throughout the province reached nearly 885 billion VND, assisting more than 3 million poor people, those in difficult circumstances, and vulnerable groups. These figures not only reflect the effectiveness of the organization's activities but also demonstrate the strength of solidarity and sharing in society.
From major movements and campaigns such as "Tet of Compassion," "Good People, Good Deeds - Working Together to Build a Compassionate Community," and "Each Organization, Each Individual Linked to a Humanitarian Cause," to activities such as healthcare, voluntary blood donation, livelihood support, housing construction, and emergency assistance for people affected by natural disasters and calamities... all have been widely implemented, creating a positive impact in the community.
Focus on the grassroots, put the people at the center.
One of the outstanding achievements of the past term was that the various levels of the Association effectively implemented the policy of focusing on the grassroots, closely following the realities of people's lives, and strengthening and consolidating the grassroots associations to organize appropriate humanitarian activities.

Typically, in Phu Thien commune, where a large number of ethnic minorities live, the need for humanitarian assistance is always very great. Ms. Ksor H'Yang - President of the Red Cross Society of Phu Thien commune - said: The Society identifies resource mobilization as a key task to effectively fulfill its role as a bridge in humanitarian activities.
A highlight was the campaign "Each organization, each individual is linked to a humanitarian cause." Through surveying, building profiles, and publicizing addresses in need of assistance, the Phu Thien Commune Red Cross Society successfully connected with sponsors, supporting 183 humanitarian causes with a total value of over 6.5 billion VND.
Furthermore, the "Tet of Compassion" movement has become a meaningful annual activity, mobilizing over 4.4 billion VND to support more than 13,000 poor people, people with disabilities, and people in difficult circumstances to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The mobilized resources were also used to build and repair 52 houses for poor households; support the construction and repair of many projects and humanitarian activities…
Continuing the humanitarian journey.
Entering the 2026-2031 term, the Provincial Red Cross Society faces new opportunities and demands. According to Mr. Ha Van Cat, closely following the Development Strategy of the Vietnam Red Cross Society to 2030, with a vision to 2045, and the Resolution of the First Provincial Party Congress, the Society has set the goal of building an increasingly strong organization that operates professionally, humanely, and effectively.
In this context, the Association focuses on implementing three breakthroughs: comprehensive digital transformation of the Association's activities; digitizing humanitarian addresses to enhance transparency and resource connectivity; and building a professional volunteer force ready to respond quickly to emergencies.
In addition, we will continue to effectively implement the two major movements: "Tet of Compassion" and "Good People, Good Deeds - Working Together to Build a Compassionate Community"; and promote the campaign "Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian cause" and the program "Safe communities, prepared for natural disasters and calamities".
The achievements of the past term will serve as a solid foundation for the Provincial Red Cross Society to continue its humanitarian journey in the new term with the motto "Unity - Compassion - Innovation - Spreading," contributing to a united and sharing community where no one is left behind.
