A "sparkling" book space in the heart of Bac Ninh.
At Bac Ninh Library No. 1 ( Bac Giang Ward), Nguyen Thi Lan, a 5th-grade student from Le Loi Primary School, sat silently at a reading table, her eyes fixed on the book "Uncle Ho and the Young Children," which had just been donated by Bac Ninh Library No. 1. Around her were hundreds of other students, their laughter and chatter filling the air, the scent of new paper wafting through the atmosphere.
Lan shared: “I never thought reading could be so much fun. Today I got to draw pictures based on books, see books arranged to form the shape of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, and listen to stories about Uncle Ho. I feel like I'm living in a world of books and colors.”

At Bac Ninh Library No. 2 (Kinh Bac Ward), the Book and Reading Culture Festival attracted hundreds of students, teachers, and residents. The organizers donated books to schools and local libraries; held a drawing competition titled "Our Uncle Ho" for elementary school students; and organized competitions in arranging artistic book models and a history quiz for students in Kinh Bac Ward, Bac Giang.
In particular, the book display space was creatively arranged: books were arranged into models of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, conical hats, etc., making everyone stop to take photos and admire them.
The highlight was the author Q&A session featuring the work "How I Read Books" by writer Nguyen Duy Ha, and a thematic talk on "Culture of Behavior and Safety in Cyberspace".

On the morning of April 16th, Bac Ninh Library No. 1 welcomed thousands of students to the opening ceremony of activities in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day; and simultaneously launched the "Bac Ninh Province Book-Based Painting Contest 2026".
Mr. Khong Duc Thanh, Deputy Director of the Bac Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized: “Books are a precious treasure of knowledge, a silent teacher that helps people cultivate knowledge, nurture their souls, and perfect their character. In the context of digital transformation and modern entertainment media, organizing the Book and Reading Culture Day has practical significance in arousing a passion for reading, forming a reading habit in the community, especially among the younger generation.”
Mr. Thanh also affirmed that, in recent years, Bac Ninh province has invested heavily in modern library systems, green libraries, and friendly libraries in schools, and has applied digital technology with e-books and audiobooks.
Mr. Nguyen Dac Hong, Director of Bac Ninh Library No. 1, said: “The 2026 Bac Ninh Province Book-Based Painting Contest is not only an art playground but also a harmonious connection between knowledge and art, between reading and creativity. We hope that students will read a lot, feel deeply, and express authentically what they love through each brushstroke.”

At the event, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism donated more than 1,300 books and audiobook libraries to 14 units, agencies, and schools.
In particular, Waka Electronics Company donated an e-book library with hundreds of free audio-visual books until June 30, 2026. Thousands of books on politics, military affairs, praising the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and the homeland are displayed, creating a sparkling "sea of books" in the heart of the city.
"Shining with the Pages of a Book" - a meaningful thematic talk.
One of the highlights of the 2026 Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Days was the thematic talk "Shining with the Pages of a Book," led by Lieutenant Colonel and writer Pham Van Anh, Vice Chairman of the Army Writers' Association, and writer Mai Phuong, Vice President of the Bac Ninh Provincial Association of Literature and Arts. The talk attracted 500 students, youth union members, and over 100 officers and soldiers from the Army and People's Police forces.
Lieutenant Colonel and writer Pham Van Anh shared: “In the age of the internet boom, reading books remains the foundation of culture and a fundamental method of learning. Reading books differs from reading information online in that it helps us reflect, imagine, and practice. We want the children to understand that books are not only knowledge but also a sparkling light that nourishes the soul, helping them avoid the illusion of being a 'scholar' when they only rely on screens.”

Writer Mai Phuong shared: “Children, choose books that suit you, read anywhere—at home, at school, in public places—but most importantly, read with your heart. Read, then imagine, reflect, draw, write, speak, and practice. That is how the pages of books will continue to shine brightly in each person's life.”
Reading culture - The foundation of aspirations for development.
The official opening ceremony of the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2026 in Bac Ninh province was also solemnly organized by the Provincial People's Committee. The program was attended by leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and leaders of central ministries and agencies, along with 400 students.
The exhibition space displays books, newspapers, and documents with themes related to the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification, the 72nd anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth, and the achievements of Bac Ninh province, running from April 17-20.
The "Our Beloved Uncle Ho" competitions (painting, artistic book model building, history quizzes) are being actively promoted by Bac Ninh Library No. 2. The "Reading Family - Bonding Through Love" competition has also been launched.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province signed a cooperation plan to implement the project on developing a reading culture with the Department of Education and Training.

From now until May 2nd, 2026, agencies, units, and schools throughout the province will simultaneously participate in the program with book exhibitions, author meet-and-greets, storytelling based on books, seminars, and recreational activities. Notably, over 25,000 books have been collected through social mobilization by Bac Ninh Library No. 1 since 2018 and will continue to be used to supplement local libraries and support disadvantaged students.
With its tradition of valuing education and academic excellence, the Kinh Bac region of Bac Ninh is striving to transform Book Day and Reading Culture into a true celebration for book lovers. From schoolchildren with their unfinished paintings to thousands of readers engrossed in turning pages, all share a common belief: books are not just knowledge; they are also a sparkling light illuminating the path for the nation's development.
