Accordingly, this decision was made after the FAT coaching staff and technical council determined that Mr. Ishii's management style and tactical direction were no longer compatible with the long-term development vision of Thai football. The meeting between the two sides took place in a professional manner, chaired by FAT Vice President Chanwit Phonchiwin.
"The FAT technical department has assessed that the working direction and coaching philosophy are no longer aligned with the federation's development path," - part of the FAT announcement.

Accordingly, the FAT technical committee, led by Vice President Chanwit Phonchiwin, Council Member Piyapong Pue-on, and Secretary General Ekapol Phonnawi, met with Coach Ishii.
FAT stated that the parting of ways stemmed from "differences in team management philosophy," while acknowledging Coach Ishii's efforts and dedication during his time with the team. Since his appointment in December 2023, he has led the Thai national team in 30 matches, winning 16 (a 53% win rate), helping the "War Elephants" maintain a disciplined and organized playing style.
FAT also expressed gratitude to the Japanese strategist and affirmed that the personnel changes are part of a plan to restructure the national team, aiming to elevate Thai football on the continent.
The FAT technical department is urgently searching for a successor, with an announcement expected before the FIFA Days in November, when Thailand will face Singapore and Sri Lanka in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Fans in Thailand are eagerly awaiting the identity of the new coach – the one expected to lead the "War Elephants" back to the top of the region.
