Kate Festival

Katê is an important traditional festival of the Cham people who follow Brahmanism, holding sacred significance in their spiritual life. It is an occasion to remember ancestors and grandparents; to pray for favorable weather and abundant harvests; and to express hopes for marital harmony and the flourishing of humanity and all things. More than just a religious ritual, Katê is also a space where traditional music, dance, costumes, and architecture converge, clearly showcasing the unique cultural identity of the Cham people. The festival contributes to preserving and spreading long-standing cultural values, while also attracting tourists who want to learn about the life and customs of the community. Due to its historical significance and unique cultural value, in 2022, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism included the "Kate Festival of the Cham People" in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
