On the morning of April 8th (corresponding to the 11th day of the third lunar month), at the Mai An Tiêm Temple (Nga Phú commune), the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Nga Sơn district inaugurated the Mai An Tiêm Festival 2025.

The Mai An Tiem Festival in 2025 will feature traditional rituals: offering incense, performing ceremonies, and commemorating and expressing gratitude for the merits of Saint Mai An Tiem, who contributed to reclaiming barren land and establishing the prosperous Nga Son region with its stunning mountains and rivers.

According to legend, Mai An Tiem was the adopted son of King Hung the 18th. Mistakenly banished to a deserted island by his father, Mai An Tiem and his wife and children overcame hardships, discovered a rare watermelon variety, cleared the remote island, and developed the northeastern region of Thanh Hoa province into a prosperous homeland. Throughout thousands of years of history, the image of Mai An Tiem has been deeply ingrained in the cultural life of the community, serving as a symbol of the diligent, creative, self-reliant, and strong spirit of the Vietnamese people.

To this day, the story of Mai An Tiêm remains invaluable, serving as a great lesson for future generations in starting businesses and achieving success from hardship.
To commemorate the merits of Saint An Tiêm, the people of Nga Sơn have erected a temple in his honor at the very spot where Mai An Tiêm and his family are said to have built their hut on the island, now belonging to Nga Phú commune (Nga Sơn).
Along with the construction of the temple, every year in mid-March of the lunar calendar, the Mai An Tiêm Festival is held with many rich activities aimed at reviving the tradition of self-reliance, self-strength, creative labor, and overcoming difficulties. At the same time, it encourages today's generations to uphold the traditions of their ancestors in building a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland and country.

This is also an opportunity to introduce and promote the land, culture, and people of Nga Son, rich in cultural, historical, and revolutionary traditions; thereby stimulating tourism and attracting domestic and international tourists to Nga Son in particular and Thanh Hoa in general.

Following the ceremony was the festival with a spectacular artistic program themed "Mai An Tiem offers the world sweet fruit, building a lasting nation amidst the vast ocean," vividly recreating the journey of overcoming hardships, finding a rare watermelon variety, exploring remote islands, and building the northeastern region of Thanh Hoa province into a prosperous homeland of Saint Mai An Tiem; as well as the responsibility of future generations in preserving and promoting the patriotic tradition, building a more prosperous and developed homeland.
