Kinhtedothi - The opening ceremony of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025, themed "The River's Love Song," will take place on the evening of March 25th at a floating stage on the Perfume River in Hue City.
The Organizing Committee stated that the opening art program of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 consists of three chapters conveying the message "The River's Self-Confession: The Legend of a River; Converging Rivers; The New Flow of Rivers," showcasing the tangible and intangible cultural values, resources, and unique tourism products of Vietnam; while also promoting the Hue Festival 2025, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Thua Thien Hue (1975-2025), and the rise of Hue City as a centrally-governed city.
The opening night featured over 800 domestic and international artists, combining drone light shows, water fountains, flying dragons, and paragliding. With the overarching theme "A Song of the River," the program offered a special impression of the ancient capital city rich in cultural identity.
Ms. Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Director of the Hue Department of Tourism, said the event will take place from 8:10 PM to 9:40 PM on March 25th at the stage along the Perfume River in front of Quoc Hoc High School. Currently, preparations for the stage and the 5,500-seat auditorium are being urgently completed. The semi-realistic stage format on the water and on the shore, combined with visual mapping, pyrotechnic effects, and hot air balloons, will create an impressive performance space.
The National Tourism Year - Hue 2025, organized by Hue, features a series of 75 main activities associated with the Hue Festival, encompassing four seasons: the Spring Festival “Spring in the Ancient Capital” (January-February); the Summer Festival “The Shining Imperial City” (April-June); the Autumn Festival “Hue in Autumn” (July-September); and the Winter Festival “Winter in Hue” (October-December). This is a national and international cultural, economic , and tourism event, marking the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Hue and celebrating the city's elevation to a centrally-governed urban area.
The opening ceremony will be broadcast live on VTV1, utilizing modern technology such as water screens, lighting effects, and musical fountains to create a unique and exciting atmosphere.
In addition to the opening ceremony stage, Hue is implementing a riverside promenade project along the Perfume River to create a scenic highlight. The floating stage on the Perfume River has a maximum area of 1,200 m2, combined with a stage space on the riverbank. After the program, the stage will be dismantled to restore the natural landscape. The Hue Imperial Citadel Relics Conservation Center has received the site and is accelerating the construction of the grandstand.
This year's National Tourism Year features 170 activities, including 8 organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, 46 at the provincial level, and 102 in response to local initiatives. Notable events include: the Hue Food Festival, the Chef Competition, the National Conference on Net Zero Tourism, and the exhibition of Vietnamese culture, heritage, and scenic spots.
Hue expects to attract 4.8-5 million visitors, of which international tourists account for 38-40%, generating revenue of 10,800-11,200 billion VND, creating a breakthrough in tourism development.
Tourism leaders recognize Hue as a heritage center with 8 UNESCO titles, 89 national monuments, hundreds of traditional festivals, and a unique culinary scene. The Hue Festival 2025 will not only promote the image of Hue but also serve as a tourism bridge between localities, contributing to enhancing Hue's position on the regional and global tourism map.
