After announcing his retirement in February 2022, the former Vietnamese-American national team player chose to focus on women's soccer. He is currently serving as an assistant coach at Seattle Reign FC, one of the most traditional teams in the NWSL (National Women's Soccer League).
Lee Nguyen signed with Seattle Reign exactly one year ago. He and the entire team are now preparing to compete more strongly in the 2026 season. Last season, Seattle Reign was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
On his personal page, Lee Nguyen frequently shares moments from his daily life interspersed with his coaching work. He brings to Seattle Reign his experience of four seasons working in the NWSL, having previously served as an assistant coach for Angel City FC (2024), Kansas City Current (2023), and notably, two years with Washington Spirit (2022-2022), where he helped the team win the 2021 NWSL Championship.
Lee Nguyen holds a USSF B coaching license and is highly regarded for his ability to develop players thanks to his 17 years of top-level playing experience. Before retiring, he played over 250 games in MLS, representing clubs such as New England Revolution, LAFC, and Inter Miami.
Lee Nguyen's career peak was winning the Supporters' Shield with LAFC in 2019. Beyond MLS, Lee Nguyen has also played in the Netherlands, Denmark, and Vietnam, and has represented the US national team nine times.
