Climbing Dinh Mountain with Garmin Instinct 2X Solar

Garmin Vietnam has officially launched the Instinct 2X Solar, an addition to the dedicated Instinct 2 smartwatch line, and last weekend, the Instinct 2X Solar accompanied us on a day trip to Dinh Mountain (Ba Ria, Vung Tau) for hiking and camping.

The product is durably crafted to military MIL-STD-810 standards, offering heat resistance, shock resistance, and water resistance up to 10 ATM1, along with chemically enhanced scratch-resistant Power Glass™ lenses… Wear it comfortably in the wilderness without worrying about scratches or damage.

This Power Glass lens also helps increase battery life, absorbs sunlight, and generates 50% more energy than the standard Instinct 2 Solar, providing added peace of mind for extended hikes in the woods, even with GPS enabled. The watch also features multi-band GNSS technology for more accurate positioning.

During our time at Dinh Mountain, we also experienced the outdoor navigation features with integrated sensors for the 3-axis compass and barometer, as well as the TracBack® return route. Determining our desired destination and the return route to our starting point became incredibly easy.

The Instinct 2X Solar is the first smartwatch to offer an "obstacle course race" feature as a new activity, including various running segments and different obstacles, which is quite interesting and novel. Unfortunately, our recent trip to Dinh Mountain didn't include any activities to experience this feature. However, we were pleased with the "walking" feature on Garmin , which accurately assessed heart rate and distance, allowing us to make the most appropriate adjustments to our bodies.

For nighttime use, the LED lights on the Instinct 2X Solar - Tactical Edition emit either white or green light. The green light is useful for maintaining the eye's natural night vision. In the dim light of a forest, the green light is also helpful for signaling to others.
