After an unsuccessful 2024 season, the Vietnamese national team has high expectations for the 2024 AFF Cup. Coach Kim Sang Sik's team will play two away matches against Laos (December 9th) and the Philippines (December 18th).
The Vietnamese national team will have two home matches in Viet Tri ( Phu Tho province ) against Indonesia (December 15th) and Myanmar (December 21st). The Vietnamese team's schedule is quite favorable in their quest to reach the semi-finals.

In the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the Vietnamese national team defeated the Philippines with scores of 2-0 and 3-2. However, the team, under the guidance of former coach Philippe Troussier, lost both matches against Indonesia with scores of 0-1 and 0-3.
The Vietnamese national team is expected to assemble on November 21st and travel to South Korea for training before participating in the 2024 AFF Cup.
