Vietnam Women's Futsal Team Match Schedule

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên16/01/2025

The Vietnamese women's futsal team was predicted to face a tough challenge when they met host nation Myanmar in their opening match of the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship qualifiers on January 15th. Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang's team was considered the stronger side and had recently defeated Myanmar in the Southeast Asian tournament, but their opponent had just appointed a new head coach, making their performance unpredictable. Despite this, the Vietnamese girls played exceptionally well, displaying high confidence from the start and securing a resounding 5-1 victory against Myanmar.

A smooth start in the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship qualifiers has given the Vietnamese women's futsal team a good psychological boost heading into their crucial second match in Group D against Macau – considered the weakest opponent in Group D. In their opening match a few days ago, Macau suffered a heavy 0-18 defeat against Taiwan. Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang's goal before the tournament was to advance to the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship finals as Group D winners. Therefore, there's no reason why the Vietnamese women's futsal team shouldn't aim to defeat Macau. Many bright spots were highlighted in the opening match, with K'Thua and Nguyen Phuong Anh leaving a strong impression, each scoring two goals. In addition, the experienced player Tran Thi Thuy Trang also played a very important role in the Vietnamese women's futsal team's gameplay. The midfielder of the Ho Chi Minh City women's club is both the team's spiritual leader and the one who dictates their playing style.

The 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship qualifiers consist of four groups. The top two teams in each group, along with the best third-placed team, will qualify for the finals. Currently, Taiwan is first in their group (3 points, goal difference +18), Vietnam is second (3 points, goal difference +4), Myanmar is third (0 points, goal difference -4), and Macau is last (0 points, goal difference -18). Therefore, if the Vietnamese women's futsal team wins against Macau, they will have one foot in the finals. If Taiwan wins against Myanmar in their later match on the same day (at 5:30 PM today, January 17th), the Vietnamese women's futsal team will secure their place in the finals one round early.
