iPhone launch events are typically held on the first Tuesday or Wednesday after Labor Day in the US (the first Monday of September). This allows Apple ample time to sell the new phone models by mid-September.

This timing is also considered ideal for Apple from a financial perspective. Launching new products in mid-September allows sales of the new iPhones to be included in the company's fourth-quarter financial results. Additionally, it gives Apple time to prepare for the year-end holiday shopping season.
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple will unveil the foldable iPhone and the iPhone 18 Pro duo on September 8th. A backup plan might be September 9th.
Sources from the supply chain indicate that Samsung Display has begun operating part of its production line in Vietnam to fulfill an initial order of approximately 3 million display panels. The order is expected to be delivered this year.
Approval for display production requires suppliers to demonstrate the quality of the final assembly and the stability of the mass production process. Apple requires a yield rate of at least 70%. Samsung Display is said to have overcome that hurdle, achieving a final yield rate of over 80%.
According to reports, Samsung Display is the exclusive supplier of OLED panels for foldable iPhones under a three-year agreement. This means Apple will not be importing foldable OLED panels from any other display manufacturer during this period.

These panels are expected to utilize Color Filter on Encapsulation (CoE) technology, along with Samsung Display's latest M16 OLED material. The M16 material structure promises improvements in brightness, color performance, lifespan, and energy efficiency compared to previous generations.
According to MacRumors , the foldable iPhone will have a screen of approximately 7.8 inches when unfolded. This size is comparable to the screen on the iPad mini. The selfie camera will be located in the upper left corner of the screen.
Meanwhile, the phone's external display measures 5.5 inches. This screen has a shorter and more square aspect ratio compared to current iPhones. This design closely resembles the shape of a passport.
Previous leaks confirmed that the device would not support Face ID facial recognition. Instead, it would integrate Touch ID fingerprint recognition via a side button for unlocking the device and using Apple Pay.
