To get tourists to return
Ms. Dang Thi Bich Phuong, a lecturer at Hanoi University of Culture, and her delegation of over 120 colleagues visited Nhat Le beach during the sunny summer days of 2025, and their impressions remain vivid: “I have traveled to and visited many beaches throughout the country, but Nhat Le and Bao Ninh beaches left the strongest impression on me. They are so beautiful, and I will definitely return if I have the chance. Throughout our trip, it was difficult to fully describe the beauty of Dong Hoi beach, which is both pristine and modern. The water is clear blue, the sand is pure white and clean, and there are many fun activities, entertainment options, and delicious food ...”
Besides its unique natural beauty and topography, Nhat Le Beach in Bao Ninh also offers safe activities and services that attract many tourists, such as inflatable swimming rings, sunshade umbrellas, beach bars, and a variety of other activities and food festivals. In addition, the beach area is decorated with themes and topics such as the art zone "Dong Hoi - Roses and the Sea," "Sails," and "Awakening Summer," creating a delightful and relaxing experience for visitors enjoying the services at Dong Hoi beach.

Alongside entertainment and recreational services, Dong Hoi is focusing on improving the quality of its seafood cuisine, particularly its specialties. Seafood such as shrimp, fish, squid, crab, and sea crab are considered by tourists to be uniquely delicious and sweet, a quality rarely found in other coastal regions. The prices are also reasonable, and restaurant owners are friendly and helpful. Furthermore, Dong Hoi often organizes food festivals at appropriate times, providing opportunities for tourists to enjoy traditional dishes and regional specialties from various localities within Quang Tri province.
According to Tran Duy Khanh, Director of the Dong Hoi Ward Public Service Management Board, through many years of experience in implementing, managing, and operating related services, the unit has made efforts to coordinate investment in infrastructure to meet the needs of residents and tourists, such as: freshwater shower services, beverage service points, check-in points on the beach, construction of food and beverage processing facilities according to a common model, installation of standardized stepped flooring to create a clear path for pedestrians... Other details have also been paid attention to, such as: standardized advertising signs for businesses at Nhat Le and Bao Ninh beaches… to ensure safety and aesthetics on the beach.
To retain tourists, Dong Hoi ward has encouraged investment in the development and formation of new types of accommodation, such as: camping on the beach; investing in shopping areas, services, commercial centers, supermarkets at coastal tourist destinations, and souvenir shops bearing the Dong Hoi brand.
Through ecotourism activities, Dong Hoi creates opportunities for tourists to further explore the beauty of nature, enhance their understanding of community culture, and learn about the traditional products of the region through festivals such as: the "Bong Cheo Can" dance, boat racing, fishing rituals, "Bai Choi" folk singing, going down to the fields, and "Cuop Cu" (a traditional game involving snatching a ball)...

Safe destination
According to experts, the beaches in Dong Hoi and the surrounding coastal areas are considered to have beautiful natural topography, a well-developed and convenient infrastructure and transportation system, and are identified as areas of significant importance for the environment, urban landscape, and coastal tourism. However, for tourism to develop in proportion to its potential, especially to ensure safety, in addition to the awareness of the people and tourists, the local government needs to make concerted efforts in directing relevant units to implement measures regularly and systematically.
The first impression visitors have of Dong Hoi beach is its safety, as local rescue teams are always present at the beaches. According to Dang Ngoc Hung, Director of the Dong Hoi Ward General Services Center: Every year, the center, in coordination with the Nhat Le Border Guard Station, Dong Hoi Regional General Hospital, and local residential groups in the coastal area, advises Dong Hoi ward on issuing regulations regarding swimming and other documents to raise awareness, warn, and strictly enforce regulations on preventing drowning accidents while participating in recreational activities and swimming at the beach.
The unit has also invested in the construction and commissioning of a new observation tower at Nhat Le beach; supporting equipment and tools such as: canoes, jet skis; rescue observation towers along with a system of fences and warning signs in the river mouth area and some other equipment and tools, such as: handheld walkie-talkies, loudspeakers, life jackets, lifebuoys, searchlights…

In 2025, Dong Hoi ward is expected to welcome 1.247 million visitors (a 10.4% increase compared to the same period); the majority of these visitors will participate in activities and utilize services on Nhat Le and Bao Ninh beaches.
In addition, the unit's rescue team regularly disseminates information on ensuring security and order, environmental hygiene, public order, accident prevention, theft prevention, property protection, and combating the harassment of tourists through the public address system; at the same time, they use two canoes to conduct patrols, focusing mainly on boat mooring areas, Dong Hoi fish market, and along both banks of the Nhat Le River, at Nhat Le I, Nhat Le II, and Bao Ninh beaches.
In particular, the team coordinated with authorities to strictly handle cases of jet ski businesses that endanger locals and tourists while swimming, as well as those that disrupt public order at tourist beaches in Dong Hoi...
Thanks to this, from 2023 to the present, rescue forces at the two beaches of Nhat Le and Bao Ninh have promptly rescued dozens of people from drowning while swimming, including both tourists and local residents; especially in 2025, all 9 drowning cases were successfully rescued.
