Regularly every weekday from Monday to Saturday, at a small house located deep in the alley of Hoang Dieu Street (Hai Chau District), the lecture of a free Literature class for disadvantaged students can be heard. Pham Thi Kim Cuong (born in 1977, residing in Hoa Thuan Dong ward, Hai Chau district) teaches classes. For the past 25 years, Ms. Cuong has always tried her best to impart knowledge to the children.
Starting in 1998, Ms. Pham Thi Kim Cuong, teacher of Literature at Kim Dong Secondary School (Hai Chau District) organized free classes for children with difficult circumstances. Because her joy is to see students know letters and literary works. Ms. Cuong shared: “In the past, I was also a poor student, used to be taught for free by teachers. So, when I become a teacher later, I also want to be able to help more students in need. So, teaching classes like this has always been my biggest wish in life.”
Having been taught for free by Ms. Cuong, TAT (18 years old), a student at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City) confided: “I have studied with Ms. Cuong from grade 6 to grade. 9, Ms. Cuong gave a very good lecture and analyzed the work very carefully. Besides, she also understands students' psychology very well, helping me a lot during the learning process."
Her passion for teaching and the desire to contribute to the community makes Ms. Pham Thi Kim Cuong devote her time and energy to maintaining free classes for disadvantaged students from 11 to 15 years old. past 25 years. Ms. Cuong's wish is to expand the classroom to help more children, but her house is narrow and not enough space. So she met the teachers, she shared the same desire to help students, and together made a proposal to the People's Committee of Hoa Thuan Dong Ward to support the teaching place.
As a result, a 0-dong class with the name "Bringing wings to dreams" for 6th grade students with difficult circumstances in Hoa Thuan Dong ward (Hai Chau district) was implemented. The class is expected to start on August 20 at 8 locations: Community Cultural Activities House in Hoa Thuan Dong Ward (Hai Chau District) and Trung Tam Community Learning Center. Coming to this class, students can learn cultural subjects including: Literature, Math, and English taught by qualified teachers from middle schools, high schools, colleges. It is known that the class will have more than 2 students attending in the morning from 20 am to 7 pm every Thursday and Sunday.
Joining in teaching Math for a class of 0 dong, Ms. Trinh Thi Nhu Quynh, Math teacher at Tran Hung Dao Secondary School said: "Knowing that Ms. Cuong organizes free classes for disadvantaged students, I volunteered. Register to participate with the desire to be able to impart more knowledge to students. Hopefully, in addition to studying, this class can help them interact and have more useful playgrounds."
Similarly, Ms. Tran Thi Viet Nga, a lecturer at Da Nang Vocational College, in charge of teaching English in class 0 shared: “When I heard Ms. Cuong talk about opening the class, it came from With love for students in need, I decided to join in to help. This is a meaningful job, contributing to the development of the community.”
According to Ms. Pham Thi Kim Cuong, my greatest happiness is seeing students improve day by day. This is the most precious thing I have. Many generations of students who have made a name for themselves and become useful people to the society are the motivation for me to strive for this work. Hopefully, tomorrow, the 0-dong class "Bringing wings to dreams" will help more difficult students.
