The first day of competition (November 14th) saw weightlifter Pham Van Mach set a record in the men's 55kg category.

In this weight category, Pham Van Mach overcame many strong opponents, especially two candidates from India , Muru Ramamurthy and Shiv Choram Sundi, to win the gold medal.
This world championship title is very special in the career of the weightlifter from An Giang province, as he turned 49 this year.

An example of passion and perseverance.
This also marks the 7th time Pham Van Mach has won the world bodybuilding championship in the 55kg category, having previously won in 2001, 2009, 2010, 2014, 2017, 2023, and 2025.
At 49 years old, Pham Van Mach still demonstrates thorough preparation, professionalism, and a readiness to perform difficult and demanding moves.
The weightlifter, born in 1976, shared that to maintain good physical condition and performance, he still maintains a habit of training for 2 hours every day, increasing to 3-5 hours during the preparation period for competitions, while also building a suitable nutrition plan for each period.

Sharing his thoughts after winning the gold medal, Pham Van Mach said: “The competitors in the 55kg category were very evenly matched and strong, so winning the championship is the result of more than 5 months of intense preparation. At this age, I have to be stricter with myself so as not to fall behind the younger athletes.”
Pham Van Mach's achievements not only brought him personal glory but also made a significant contribution to elevating the status of Vietnamese bodybuilding.
The 16th World Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships - 2025 will take place from November 14th to 17th, bringing together hundreds of athletes from many countries and territories around the world.
The Vietnamese team, with its formidable contingent of 23 weightlifters, is determined to achieve the highest rankings.
