Coming to Artillery Regiment 68, the Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces, during the days when officers and soldiers enthusiastically trained, were ready to fight (SSCĐ) and worked with the spirit of "Raising high the red flag of August - Competing to win three first place". Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hoi, Political Commissar of the 68th Artillery Regiment, said: "In this peak emulation period, the officers and soldiers of the Regiment highly promote the tradition of the unit that initiated the "Three Best" Movement (the best shooting unit, with the largest number of participants, and the most consistent quality) in the past, to successfully complete the "Three Best" goals today. That is: The entire regiment strives to educate the will, raise political awareness and the highest duties and responsibilities; carry out political tasks with the highest results; build discipline, comply with the law, and have the strictest discipline. Along with that, the Regiment focuses on making breakthroughs in the leadership and command style of cadres at all levels, closely following the troops, and caring about the material and spiritual lives of officers and soldiers"...

To see for ourselves, we visited the units under the Regiment. Although the barracks are in the process of building and upgrading, the officers and soldiers strictly follow the regulations; the internal affairs are neat and tidy. Arriving at Company 3, Battalion 1, we were informed by Major Phung Dinh Duyen, the Company Commander: "Over the years, the Company has always completed all assigned tasks well. Officers from squad to company level always closely follow and grasp the thoughts and circumstances of the soldiers; combine education and discipline training well, maintain strict daily and weekly routines and regimes; coordinate with families and localities to manage the troops... Thanks to that, the Company has no cases of disciplinary violations such as desertion, desertion, or illegal absence; training of new soldiers is good and specialized training is excellent".

Going to the specialized training ground, we were immersed in the bustling atmosphere of training with the spirit of "Three Bests" of the past. The slogans "Sweat on the training ground, less blood on the battlefield", "One hour of enthusiasm is better than a whole day of formalities"... were realized on the training ground. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Dien, Deputy Regiment Commander, Chief of Staff, regularly followed closely on the training ground. Inspecting the 122-M46 Artillery Battery, instructing and correcting the technical movements of the troops, ensuring safe training, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Dien introduced: "In recent years, especially after the Regiment was transferred from Division 304 (2nd Corps) to Division 312 (July 2023) and deployed the full-strength unit model, the Regiment has been equipped with many new weapons and equipment, such as: Su-152, Su-122 self-propelled artillery; BM-21 multiple rocket launchers along with improved artillery weapons and equipment, STV-380 infantry guns... Along with training according to the basic, practical, solid motto, focusing on synchronization, in-depth, improving the quality of training for new soldiers, the Regiment has increased night training, focusing on training to master the exploitation of artillery weapons and equipment. Officers and staff of the Regiment have made efforts to research and promote technical innovation initiatives, ensuring Logistics and technical support with sufficient quantity and quality of weapons and equipment for training, combat readiness and regular and unexpected tasks. From 2020 up to now, the Regiment has ensured absolute safety; the annual training inspection results have met 100% of requirements, with 82.3% good and excellent; the technical coefficient of weapons and equipment has reached over 98%, with the group of combat readiness weapons and equipment alone reaching 100%. The Regiment won first prize in the 2024 Division-level Artillery Company Officer Competition"...

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Dien affirmed: The experiences and achievements in artillery operations during the resistance wars, in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland have been applied, creatively developed and concretized in training; building, organizing forces in drills, operations and combat readiness of the Regiment.

Talking to us, Lieutenant Colonel Vu Hoang Phuong, Commander of the 68th Artillery Regiment, added: The achievements that the Regiment had when it was in the 304th Division, 2nd Corps before, and the development of its mission from a permanent framework unit, training reserve forces, becoming a fully staffed unit, equipped with modern weapons and equipment, are one of the motivations for the officers and soldiers of the Regiment to strive. The Regiment is the origin of the "Three Best" emulation movement, and today it still maintains its tradition and continues to be one of the leading units in the International Emulation Movement of the 312th Division and 12th Corps.

In 2024, the Regiment was awarded the Emulation Flag and the "Excellent Training Unit" flag by the Minister of National Defense . In 2025, the Regiment was awarded the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal by the Party and the State. The 70th anniversary of the 68th Artillery Regiment's Traditional Day (October 20, 1955 / October 20, 2025) is an opportunity for officers and soldiers of the Regiment to be more proud, united and make more efforts, striving to excellently complete the assigned tasks and the goals set out by the Resolution of the 312th Division Party Congress and the Regiment Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.
