Every victory of the Vietnamese revolution would not have been possible without the contributions of intellectuals; these contributions are invaluable, worthy of respect and pride," affirmed National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man .

On the morning of August 28th, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended the ceremony honoring outstanding science and technology intellectuals in 2024, organized by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations. The Chairman of the National Assembly assessed that since its inception, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations has gradually demonstrated its role as a nucleus for uniting and fostering the creativity of science and technology intellectuals both domestically and internationally, contributing to the development of national science and technology potential, and making important contributions to socio-economic development, national defense, and security. "The Party and the State always value and trust the science and technology intellectual workforce. Every victory of the Vietnamese revolution cannot be achieved without the contributions of intellectuals; these contributions are very valuable, very worthy of respect and pride," the Chairman of the National Assembly affirmed. On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Chairman of the National Assembly acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and outstanding achievements of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and the scientific and technological intellectual community; and recognized and commended the 135 outstanding scientific and technological intellectuals honored at the ceremony.

Furthermore, the Chairman of the National Assembly pointed out that current mechanisms and policies do not adequately encourage or fully utilize the potential and creativity of the scientific and technological intellectual workforce; science and technology have not met the requirements of reality and the expectations of the Party, the State, and the people. The Chairman emphasized that the current context demands that the country's intellectual workforce have a new understanding and scientific thinking linked to practical and effective solutions to make science and technology a driving force for national development. The Party and the State always pay attention to and place their trust in the country's intellectual workforce. The Chairman of the National Assembly expressed confidence that the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, with its tradition of solidarity and building upon its achievements, will continue to be the core force in gathering, uniting, and promoting the creativity of a large number of domestic and foreign scientific and technological intellectuals, actively contributing to building a clean and strong Party and State. At the same time, it should further enhance its role as a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in social supervision and criticism. Promoting and improving the quality of patriotic emulation movements contributes positively to socio-economic development, ensuring national defense, security, foreign relations, and combating corruption and negative practices. The ceremony honoring outstanding science and technology intellectuals is held every two years. In 2024, 135 intellectuals were selected for honor, including 3 Labor Heroes.
