The reason why Barca is 'stalling' over the Rashford deal.

Barcelona are not in a hurry to activate Marcus Rashford's buyout clause, despite the attractive offer.

Rashford's future at Barca remains uncertain.

Barcelona are temporarily delaying a decision on Marcus Rashford's future, despite having the option to buy the striker outright from Manchester United for £26 million.

Appearing on the podcast Que t'hi Jugues! on the day of the Barcelona presidential election, Deco was asked about the possibility of signing Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez. He replied: "Julian Alvarez? There are a lot of uncertainties, three months is a long time."

From this statement, it's easy to understand why Barcelona isn't in a hurry to activate the Rashford buy-out clause. The English striker's form could completely change in the near future.

Rashford made a positive impact upon his arrival at Camp Nou. Under manager Hansi Flick, he scored 6 goals and provided 7 assists in his first two months, quickly earning the trust of the club. However, the English striker's form has noticeably stagnated since then.

Since the end of January, Rashford hasn't directly contributed to a goal. Between mid-December and mid-March, he only scored 3 goals and provided 1 assist. This decline has made Barcelona more cautious about long-term investment decisions.

The £26 million fee is still considered reasonable, especially given Barcelona's financial constraints. However, the club's management understands that an injury or a dip in form could make the deal risky.

Deco's use of Julian Alvarez as an example also illustrates a common viewpoint: the transfer market is always volatile and nothing is certain.

Currently, Barcelona is closely monitoring the situation before making a final decision. This means Rashford will have to wait until the final days of the transfer window to know his future.

For MU, this wait is equally important. If Barcelona doesn't activate the clause, the "Red Devils" will have to reconsider their squad plans for the new season.

Why has Manchester United always been unstable since Sir Alex Ferguson left? Alex Ferguson's departure not only closed the glorious era of Manchester United, but also opened up more than a decade of searching for identity, as the "Red Devils" fell into a spiral of instability.
