After years of being considered safe and lacking in innovation, the Galaxy Ultra line may regain its appeal with a new generation. According to recent leaks, Samsung's highest-end flagship model, expected to launch next year, will receive significant upgrades, from design and camera to several exclusive features.
In recent years, Samsung's product strategy has shared many similarities with Apple's. They focus on refreshing designs and adding distinctive features to maintain user interest in the high-end segment. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to be the next step in this trend.
Previously, the Ultra series primarily served as the most fully-equipped version of the Galaxy S line, aimed at users who wanted a good camera, a large screen, and S Pen support. Aside from these points, the differences between the Ultra and Plus versions weren't very noticeable. Even with Samsung adding an anti-glare coating to the screens in recent generations, the overall experience was still considered not innovative enough.
According to multiple sources, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will change that approach. First, it will have familiar but necessary upgrades for users. The main camera may be equipped with a wider aperture, significantly improving low-light photography compared to previous Galaxy models. The selfie camera will also be improved with a wider angle, suitable for group photos with many people.
In terms of design, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will switch to a more rounded shape, instead of the square, sharp edges of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This change may provide a more comfortable grip, although some argue it makes the device look similar to the new generation of iPhones. The rear camera module is also expected to be adjusted to accommodate the new lens structure and aperture.
The next noteworthy point lies in the battery and charging, an element that has remained relatively unchanged on the Ultra line for many years. The Galaxy S26 Ultra will have a battery capacity of around 5,200 mAh, instead of the familiar 5,000 mAh. This number isn't huge, but it signals that Samsung is starting to pay attention to improving battery life on its flagship.
More importantly, charging speeds will be significantly upgraded. Wired charging will reach 60W, while wireless charging will increase to 25W, considerably higher than the previous 45W and 15W respectively.
Besides the hardware, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is also rumored to possess several exclusive features. These include advanced AI features that may only appear on the Ultra version, not on other Galaxy S26 models. Additionally, Samsung is expected to introduce a new type of "private screen" that uses AI to automatically blur or hide content on the screen when it detects someone peeking.
