The Sing! Asia finals concluded with Phuong My Chi finishing in 3rd place, behind Miyuna and Chu Phi Ca. Although she didn't achieve the top spot, the singer's journey left a lasting impression on the audience, as she brought Vietnamese music and culture to the international stage.
In a recently shared behind-the-scenes clip, Phuong My Chi was seen in tears backstage after receiving the results. The singer of "Vu Tru Co Anh" (The Universe Has You) covered her face and sobbed uncontrollably, receiving comforting hugs from many colleagues. Sharing on her personal page, the Gen Z star said she wasn't crying because of the ranking, but because she regretted not being able to perform "Bai Ca Dat Phuong Nam" (Song of the Southern Land) on the final stage.

"It's not about the ranking, but something even more heartbreaking. It's the feeling of not being able to perform the final song, which Chi and her team poured their hearts into preparing. Chi made a promise to the audience and the traditional instrument band that this 'missed' song will be performed on a wonderful stage very soon," the singer shared.
In a subsequent vlog, Phuong My Chi revealed that she had initially only prepared one song for the final competition. However, the competition rules unexpectedly changed, requiring contestants to prepare three performances. "Bài ca đất phương Nam" (Song of the Southern Land) was the last song she prepared.
The singer and her team meticulously arranged the performance, incorporating a variety of instruments such as the zither, lute, moon lute, and flute. Phuong My Chi said that when she went backstage, she was moved to see the members of the traditional music band meticulously prepared and ready for the final performance. "I was very proud and looked forward to harmonizing with the sounds of the traditional music, but in the end, I couldn't do it," she expressed her regret.
In the comments section, viewers expressed their sympathy for Phuong My Chi and looked forward to enjoying this performance in the near future.
