Man United vs Tottenham: Continuing the momentum

Manchester United vs. Tottenham is one of the two most notable matches in Round 25 of the English Premier League, taking place at 7:30 PM on February 7th at Old Trafford.

The other match is "Super Sunday" between Liverpool and Man City on the night of February 8th.

Extending the unbeaten streak

Fans will undoubtedly be focused on what is considered one of the most anticipated matches of this weekend, between a team thriving under interim manager Michael Carrick and a struggling side facing a team caught at a crossroads, with vastly different performances in both domestic and European competitions.

Manchester United are on a run of three consecutive wins since Carrick took over from Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils have beaten Arsenal, Manchester City, and Fulham to secure nine points, extending their unbeaten run in the Premier League to seven matches (four wins, three draws).

The transformation was not only reflected in the results but also in the fighting spirit and approach to the game of the Manchester United team, enough to satisfy coach Carrick with the team's focus and desire to win.

In fact, Coach Carrick has "ignited" the fighting spirit of Man United, helping the team play more aggressively, transition quickly, and become particularly dangerous even without needing superior ball control.

They currently sit fourth with 41 points, having scored 44 goals – among the most effective attacking lines in the league – and leading in shots on goal. If they beat Tottenham, Man United will surpass their total of 42 points from last season, even though there are still more than a dozen games remaining.

Tottenham have never been an easy opponent for Man United. The Manchester team haven't won against Tottenham in their last six Premier League encounters. Their meeting in August 2025 ended in a 2-2 draw thanks to a late equalizer from Matthijs de Ligt, while last season Tottenham secured a resounding victory at Old Trafford.

Tottenham's domestic form is causing concern. Thomas Frank's team have failed to win in their last six Premier League matches (four draws, two losses), dropping to 14th place and failing to create a safe distance from the bottom. The risk of extending their poor run in the Premier League is real, despite their more positive performances in the Champions League and cup competitions.

Manager Michael Carrick highly praised Tottenham, particularly their ability to attack directly and stretch the opponent's defense. The recent 2-2 draw with Man City showed that Tottenham can still be explosive, especially when their forwards are in good form.

However, the injury list is significantly impacting the depth of the visiting team's squad. Not to mention, Tottenham often start poorly and concede early goals. Man United, on the other hand, usually make good use of their home advantage with a high scoring rate.

With their current form, morale, and home advantage, Manchester United are considered the slightly stronger team. If they maintain the pace and sharpness of their last three matches, Carrick's side have a good chance of extending their winning streak. However, against an opponent with a history of encounters and a strong counter-attacking style like Tottenham, this promises to be a tense 90 minutes with plenty of goals.
