Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and The Athletic have both confirmed that Man Utd have reached an agreement to sign Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina after representatives from the club flew to Italy this morning (September 1st) to negotiate.
Sofyan Amrabat has joined Manchester United on a one-season loan deal with an option to buy next year.
Manchester United made a loan offer for the Moroccan midfielder on Thursday, for a fee of €2 million, and included a clause allowing them to 'return' him mid-season (January 2024) if he doesn't meet expectations. Fiorentina, of course, did not agree.
Given the urgent situation, the Man Utd recruitment team flew to Fiorentina to negotiate, and eventually, both sides reached an agreement.
Specifically, Man Utd will loan Amrabat for one season for a fee of €10 million, with an option to buy him permanently the following year for €25 million (including €5 million in add-ons), if the Red Devils so desire.
Sofyan Amrabat is certain to be a Manchester United player before the Premier League summer transfer window closes at 11 pm on Friday (September 1st). Manchester United cannot sign him on a long-term contract at this time due to Financial Fair Play regulations.
Erik ten Hag confirmed that Sergio Reguilon has joined Manchester United for training.
Sofyan Amrabat is Man Utd's sixth signing this summer to bolster the squad for Erik ten Hag ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, following goalkeeper Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, defender Sergio Reguilon, midfielder Mason Mount, and forward Rasmus Hojlund.
Manager Erik ten Hag confirmed that left-back Sergio Reguilon, who arrived from Tottenham on loan, has now joined Manchester United for training.
Meanwhile, Amrabat will need to race against time to adapt to Man Utd and the Premier League, having only played 45 minutes for Fiorentina, including pre-season matches, since last season's Europa League final defeat to West Ham 1-2 in June.
