Poor form since the start of the season has left Man Utd behind in the title race. To compete, coach Erik Ten Hag's team must win their away match at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United.
The Red Devils were missing key players like Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, and Casemiro, but they did not have much trouble controlling the ball. The goal came in the 28th minute. Bruno Fernandes' pass was not favorable, but Scott McTominay controlled it neatly before finishing to open the score.
The visitors' joy lasted for 3 minutes before McTominay himself became the culprit. The Scottish midfielder handled the ball in the penalty area. On the 11 meter mark, Oliver McBurnie defeated Onana, equalizing the score 1-1.
Scott Mctominay opened the scoring for Man Utd.
After conceding the goal, Man Utd came out strong and almost took the lead again in the 38th minute when Antony passed to Marcus Rashford before the English striker crossed the ball to Rasmus Hojlund. However, the striker was a beat too slow to put the ball into the Sheffield United net.
Before the break, Man Utd missed two more chances. First, Bruno Fernandes' free-kick hit the crossbar of Foderingham, and Rasmus Hojlund's close-range shot went wide.
In the second half, the Red Devils increased the pressure. Many good opportunities were missed by the feet of Sofyan Amrabat, Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund.
On a day when the strikers were unlucky, Man Utd's backline shone at the right time. In the 77th minute, Diogo Dalot's beautiful long-range shot brought home the 2-1 goal.
Man Utd won 3 points, moving up to 8th place in the Premier League table. They are 5 points behind third-placed Liverpool.
