Providing amenities for the people.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Giồng Riềng commune, in coordination with Vikki Bank - Giồng Riềng branch in An Giang , recently donated smartphones to poor and near-poor households. Mr. Hà Tùng Lâm, residing in Láng Quắm hamlet, one of the 10 poor and near-poor households receiving a Samsung A6 5G phone, happily shared: “I work as a laborer all year round and don't have money to buy a new phone; I've always used old phones given to me by relatives. Now, for the first time, I've received a brand-new smartphone, and I can now check the news and look up necessary information. The Fatherland Front officials also promised to guide me on how to complete the online application process, so I don't have to travel far anymore. I'm so happy; I feel like I'm keeping up with the times.”

This story shows that digital transformation is reaching every household through practical actions at the grassroots level. Not just limited to smartphones, during the past term, the Fatherland Front of Giồng Riềng commune mobilized the people's strength, creating a strong impact on social welfare and rural infrastructure development. The commune mobilized resources to build and repair 373 solidarity houses; with the joint efforts of religious organizations and philanthropists, they supported the construction of 486 houses, with funding exceeding 25 billion VND.
In particular, the Fatherland Front, in coordination with various organizations and philanthropists, built 127 rural traffic bridges with a budget of over 50 billion VND. These concrete bridges, replacing temporary bridges, help people travel safely, make it easier for students to get to school, and facilitate the movement of goods. Ms. Duong Hong Nhi, residing in Ta Yem hamlet, happily said: “Before, to cross the river, we had to use a very dangerous makeshift bridge. During the rainy season, it was slippery, and students often fell on their way to school. Now, with a sturdy concrete bridge, people can travel safely, and trading agricultural products is much more convenient.”
Thanks to these results, the number of poor households in the commune decreased from 167 in 2021 to 101 in 2024, a reduction of over 60%.
Connecting the Party's will with the people's aspirations.
These practical activities are how the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Giong Rieng commune implements the plan of the commune Party Committee, concretizing the Central Committee's policy on digital transformation. Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Giong Rieng commune, Pham Khuong Duy, said: “We always determine that mobilization work must be clear about the people, the tasks, the responsibilities, and the effectiveness. From building houses, bridges, and roads to donating smartphones to poor households… all are linked to the common goal of improving the lives of the people, so that the people trust and cooperate with the government.”
Comrade Nguyen Minh Trang - Secretary of the Party Committee of Giong Rieng commune emphasized: “The commune Party Committee highly appreciates the contributions of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the commune in the work of digital transformation and caring for the people's lives. These practical activities contribute to sustainable poverty reduction, building new rural areas and moving towards model new rural areas. This is the foundation for the commune's development in the next term, and at the same time contributes to the successful implementation of the resolution of the commune Party Congress, Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo and Plan No. 02-KH/BCĐTW of the Central Steering Committee on digital transformation.”
From houses built with compassion, bridges, and concrete roads to smartphones, the Fatherland Front of Giồng Riềng commune has been affirming its role as a strong bridge between the Party, the government, and the people.
