Messi assisted Suarez and Reguilon for goals in the 56th and 73rd minutes, along with De Paul's opening goal in the 44th minute, giving Inter Miami a 3-0 lead over Toronto FC. He then scored the fourth goal himself in the 75th minute from a De Paul assist.
Nevertheless, Inter Miami's defense still left much to be desired as they allowed their opponents to pull back two goals late in the match, with Aristizabal scoring a brace for Toronto FC in the 82nd and 90th minutes. However, this time Toronto FC could not repeat the incredible comeback that Orlando City had pulled off against Inter Miami in the previous round, due to the limited time remaining in the match.
The victory helped Inter Miami regain their spirits after the shock defeat against Orlando City, and they climbed back to second place in the MLS Eastern Conference standings. Their next match will be an away game against FC Cincinnati at 6:30 AM on May 14th.
