Cannes Film Festival organizers said on May 3 that they will honor Michael Douglas at the opening ceremony of the 2023 Cannes Film Festival on May 16 to recognize "his brilliant career and commitment to cinema."
Michael Douglas (78 years old) is known for a great career including films such as The China Syndrome, Basic Instinct, Falling Down, Behind the Candelabra, Wall Street, Fatal Attraction … All of which were screened at the Cannes Film Festival.

“It is always a breath of fresh air to be at Cannes, a place that has long provided a great platform for bold creativity, bold art and excellence in storytelling,” said Michael Douglas.
"From my first visit to Cannes in 1979 with The China Syndrome to the premiere of my most recent film Behind the Candelabra in 2013, Cannes has always reminded me that the magic of cinema is not just what we see on the screen but also its ability to impact people around the world ," the veteran actor added.
He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as a ruthless tycoon in Wall Street (1987).
