What surprises anyone who visits this place is the harmonious coexistence of cultures, beliefs, and religions. Within an area of less than 1 square kilometer, one can find the close proximity of Vinh My Temple, the ancient shrine of the Kinh people, Ong Bon Pagoda of the Chinese people, and Vinh My Church. Particularly noteworthy is the presence of three ancient Buddhist temples: Vinh An Ancient Temple, Vinh Hung Long Temple, and Hung My Temple (Pure Land Lay Buddhist Temple).
Vinh An Ancient Temple.
Here, there are no boundaries between beliefs and religions. People are familiar with the melodious sound of church bells blending with the resonant chime of temple bells. The rhythmic drumming of the communal house and the regular chanting of wooden clappers each morning and evening create a harmonious blend of sounds that resonate through the small hamlets, bringing a sense of peace to the residents. This intermingling is a vivid testament to the strong sense of community; despite differences in beliefs and religions, the people share a common inclination towards goodness and reverence for their ancestors who pioneered and established this prosperous land.

Vinh My A was once a land of vast, golden rice paddies, where generations were nurtured by rice grains nourished by the alluvial soil from the canals. However, due to changing natural conditions, farmers have shrewdly shifted to shrimp farming. The rice paddies of yesteryear have now given way to modern industrial shrimp farms, bringing prosperity to many families.
Despite numerous changes throughout history, what has never changed in this land is the tradition of valuing education. Even amidst the hardships of working on the shrimp farms, parents always strive to ensure their children receive a proper education. Diligence and hard work have become the foundation of the people here, always using knowledge as a solid basis for their future. From here, many outstanding individuals have gone on to establish their careers, carrying with them the aspiration to enrich their homeland, while simultaneously demonstrating their capabilities and contributing their strength and intellect to all parts of the country.
There's a tradition deeply ingrained in the hearts of every person living far from home: no matter where they go or what they do, they must arrange to return to their hometown for holidays and festivals. At temples such as Vinh An Ancient Temple, Vinh Hung Long Temple, and Hung My Temple, on the 9th day of the first lunar month, people flock back to offer prayers for peace and safety. This is followed by the lively Ky Yen Festival at Vinh My Temple (from the 18th to the 20th of the first lunar month); or the full moon of the eleventh lunar month at Thanh Hoang Ancient Temple and the full moon of the twelfth lunar month at Ong Bon Temple.

In the final days of the year, the entire countryside is illuminated by the shimmering lights of Christmas at Vinh My Church. Christmas Eve is not just for religious people but has become a shared celebration for the entire village. Kinh, Khmer, and Hoa people flock to the church, exchanging wishes for peace and well-being. The hymns blend with the chilly winter night, making this land even warmer, filled with love and the deep affection of a community that has been bound together for hundreds of years.

Each holiday season is a time for family reunion. Children from distant provinces and cities return home, gathering around the family dinner table, visiting neighbors and friends to inquire about their work, health, and lives. The handshakes that strengthen the bonds of solidarity among the people serve as a reminder that Vinh My A will always be a haven, a source of love.
The former Vinh My A commune, now Hoa Binh commune in Ca Mau province, despite its modernized appearance, retains its cultural essence. It is a wonderful blend of culture, beliefs, religion, and the strong, enduring solidarity of the three ethnic groups: Kinh, Khmer, and Hoa. For the people of this land, it remains a source of pride – a homeland rich in identity, studious, and imbued with deep affection.
