Milan – Where fashion breathes.

I spent my youth in Milan, but the fashion capital of Italy never ceases to amaze me. Every time I approach this place, I'm always amazed by its rich culture, cuisine, and architecture. A friend visiting from France asked me to design a fashion-themed day trip to Milan, and so, two girls in their 20s, filled with excitement and a love for art, decided to create a unique and memorable itinerary in this beautiful city.

The magnificent beauty of the Duomo cathedral in the heart of Milan, Italy.

No matter how you explore Milan, enjoying a morning coffee while admiring the magnificent architecture of the Duomo cathedral is a must-do experience. We chose to savor a warm cappuccino at Cafe Gucci, located in the heart of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping center next to the Duomo. Situated in the city's center, this luxury fashion haven is designed in a cruciform shape with an exquisite glass dome. Inside this opulent building is a long row of world-leading fashion boutiques such as Prada, Celine, Miu Miu, CHANEL, Louis Vuitton, Hermès… This is not only a magnificent dream for fashion lovers but also a destination that holds the historical, cultural, and architectural value of the entire city.

Leaving the hustle and bustle behind, we visited the Palazzo Morando, a museum showcasing the history of Italian fashion spanning from the Middle Ages to the contemporary era. As we toured the museum, my friend happily took notes on the fascinating details of clothing worn in this Mediterranean country 100 years ago, as well as the pioneering steps that helped build its leading global fashion industry. Lost in the medieval atmosphere, we felt like we were traveling back in time and participating in a valuable history lesson. Not stopping there, we continued on to the Armani Museum, an iconic building of Giorgio Armani. We not only gained insight into the fashion philosophies and career stories of this brilliant designer but were also treated to a visual feast of architecture, exhibition spaces, and a diverse array of captivating art forms.

Immersing ourselves in the life of Milanese locals, the two of us visited the Brera area, located behind the famous Sforzesco Castle – a place with charming Italian streets, delicious restaurants, and small shops selling handicrafts and "made in Italy" fashion. After enjoying a delicious pizza magherita and a plate of excellent bolognese pasta, we felt energized to explore every picturesque corner of Brera and excitedly shopped at local stores offering meticulously crafted clothing with unique styles, and chatted with interesting and hospitable local designers.

Without an invitation, we couldn't attend the fashion shows held in Milan, but we could still enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the fashion festival everywhere. Every corner of the streets, with its ancient yellow walls, centuries-old European architecture, and characteristic trams, could become the perfect backdrop for stunning fashion photos. The city was permeated with a trendy vibe; it wasn't unusual to spot a celebrity posing in designer clothes or a model confidently striding in unique outfits, attracting all eyes. Learning from the stylish angles of Vietnamese fashionistas like Chau Bui, Quynh Anh Shyn, and Co Em Trendy, we took commemorative photos of each other to mark a memorable and meaningful day of experiences.

Ending a long day in the Quadrilatero d'Oro, one of the world's busiest shopping districts, we strolled along the cobblestone streets of Monte Napoleone and Sant'Andrea, overflowing with luxury brands. Shopping at Italian fashion houses like Gucci, Fendi, Versace, and Bottega Veneta in the very heart of the fashion capital is sure to be an incredibly memorable and satisfying experience. Holding a cool, creamy gelato in our hands, we walked along, admiring the magnificent boutiques through their opulent windows, reflecting the shimmering sunset, and felt incredibly fortunate to be enjoying such beautiful moments in our lives.

Gazing at the vibrant and artistic city before my eyes, I realized that here, fashion isn't just a trend; it's the way Italians live. Fashion is ingrained in the demeanor of each local, in the atmosphere surrounding us, in every alleyway, every building, every sign, and in the hearts of tourists who come to Milan because they too want to experience their love of fashion in the deepest and most passionate way.
