Gonçalo Ramos became AC Milan's most expensive signing in history. |
AC Milan made a huge splash in the transfer market by completing the signing of Gonçalo Ramos from PSG . The fee of over 70 million euros makes the Portuguese forward the most expensive signing in the history of the Rossoneri.
According to Italian media, Milan paid around 74 million euros to PSG. This figure far surpasses the club's previous record, which belonged to Rafael Leão, who arrived at San Siro from Lille in 2019 for 49.5 million euros. The Ramos transfer is also among the most expensive deals ever made by a Serie A club.
Ramos has just turned 25 and is the first signing under coach Rúben Amorim. This move shows Milan wants a major overhaul after a season that the American owners themselves considered a "clear failure". Ramos' contract with Milan runs until the end of the 2030/31 season.
Ramos's arrival makes Milan's attack even more exciting. He will partner with Rafael Leão and Christian Pulisic, creating a front line rich in speed, technique, and the ability to press. For Amorim, Ramos is not just a new center forward, but also a piece that embodies the team's ambition to rebuild.
The deal was confirmed while Ramos was with the Portuguese national team at the 2026 World Cup. He was preparing for the Round of 16 match against Croatia, where the competition for places in the attacking line remained intense.
Ramos rose through the ranks at Benfica before moving to PSG in 2023. In three seasons at Paris, he won 12 titles, including two Champions Leagues. However, the striker never truly became an indispensable choice. His record of 45 goals in 131 games is good, but not enough to secure him the number one spot at Parc des Princes.
In the Portuguese national team, Ramos often had to live in Cristiano Ronaldo's shadow. Moving to Milan therefore opened up a new opportunity: to become the main striker, instead of continuing to play a supporting role in Paris.
