When mentioning the Ha Tinh Mineral and Trade Corporation (Mitraco), one must acknowledge its contributions to the industrial sector, particularly in the field of mineral extraction and processing. This was the starting point for the formation of the Corporation, as Mitraco's predecessor was the Ha Tinh Titanium Extraction, Processing, and Export Company.

Mineral extraction and deep processing have also been strategic and key areas for the company over the past 20 years. Leveraging its strengths, Mitraco consistently invests in modern machinery, equipment, and production lines to increase productivity and enhance product value. Mitraco's industrial products such as ilmenite, zircon, ultrafine zircon powder, rutile, and gypsum-based products are currently available in the domestic market and many countries.

Vilaco's gypsum mining and processing operations contribute 35-40% of Mitraco's annual revenue and profit.

Operating in the field of gypsum mining and processing, Vietnam-Laos One-Member Limited Liability Company (Vilaco) is a key unit for the sustainable development of the Corporation. Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Director of Vietnam-Laos One-Member Limited Liability Company, stated: “In 2004 – the company's first year of operation – revenue was only 40 million VND, but by 2022 it had reached over 400 billion VND, with profits transferred to the Corporation since its establishment exceeding 7.6 million USD. Annually, Vilaco contributes 35-40% of the Corporation's revenue and profit. Beyond its economic contribution, as a unit based in Laos for nearly 20 years, Vilaco has also contributed to strengthening the relationship between Ha Tinh province and Khammouane province, and between Vietnam and Laos in general.”

Mitraco's mark remains deeply imprinted on Ha Tinh's agricultural sector, playing a pioneering role in the development of industrial farm animal husbandry in the province.

Nearly 20 years ago, Mitraco Ha Tinh invested in the development of the livestock sector. At that time, livestock farming in the province was mainly small-scale, household-based, and lacked large-scale industrial models. In line with the province's policy on agricultural, farmer, and rural development, and in conjunction with the Corporation's strategy of diversifying industries and products, Mitraco researched, surveyed, and made a breakthrough investment in agriculture, developing industrial and commercial livestock production in a modern direction.

Mitraco is a pioneer in the development of industrial farm animal husbandry in the province.

Currently, Mitraco's breeding pig products are available in large-scale farms in many provinces and cities, and its pork products are supplied to markets nationwide. In particular, the economic models and satellite farming households linked with Mitraco have gradually improved economic efficiency, created jobs, and provided stable income for thousands of workers, contributing positively to socio-economic development and the construction of new rural areas in these localities.

As the leading unit in the livestock sector of the Corporation, Mr. Ho Sy Huy Thao – Director of Mitraco Livestock Company, said: “The company has applied scientific and technological advancements, a strict and closed-loop veterinary and environmental protection process, ensuring disease safety. In recent years, the company's revenue has reached over 400 billion VND/year. We currently have nearly 50 satellite households producing sows and commercial pigs, 90% of which use closed-system technology, with clusters of farms of 1,000 - 3,000 pigs/batch in communes throughout the province.”

Along with industry and agriculture, Mitraco Ha Tinh has also continuously expanded and developed its port services. Leveraging the potential and advantages of Vung Ang Port, the Lao-Viet International Port Joint Stock Company (a subsidiary of Mitraco) has maximized port services, effectively facilitating cargo transportation and making a significant contribution to the province's socio-economic development.

On average, the volume of goods handled through berths No. 1 and No. 2, operated by the Lao-Viet International Port Joint Stock Company, reaches over 3.6 million tons per year. To meet the growing demand for cargo transportation, the company has invested in an additional berth No. 3 with a total investment of nearly 1,000 billion VND, expected to be operational by the end of 2023. More importantly, each step of the company's development further strengthens the Vietnam-Laos friendship in Ha Tinh, contributing to enhancing the local government's foreign relations.

2023 marks the 20th anniversary of Mitraco Ha Tinh's establishment. Throughout its development, despite periods of ups and downs, Mitraco has affirmed its role as one of the leading companies in Ha Tinh's economy, making significant contributions to industry, agriculture, trade and services, creating jobs, increasing budget revenue, and promoting local economic development.

Mitraco's General Director, Le Viet Thao, stated: “The company's total revenue over the past 20 years has reached 22,543 billion VND. To date, Mitraco has also contributed over 1,000 billion VND to the state budget. With 14 affiliated units, Mitraco currently provides employment for over 1,000 workers. In addition to focusing on production and business, the company regularly organizes activities to care for and encourage the well-being of its employees. The average income of employees at the Corporation currently reaches 8.6 million VND per person per month.”

Mitraco donated 300 million VND to the "Fund to support high-achieving students from disadvantaged backgrounds to attend university".

Besides its role in economic development, Mitraco is one of the most active units in social welfare, charity, and humanitarian activities in the local area and in neighboring Laos.

Over the years, the Corporation has supported the people in mining communes in building many welfare projects such as schools, sanitation facilities, clean water, electricity lines, etc., with a total value of approximately 70 billion VND; and supported charitable funds, funds for the poor, and scholarship funds with approximately 60 billion VND. The unit has also paid attention to and carried out many meaningful activities to support and sponsor communes in building new rural areas.
