Many people say that blurred vision after conjunctivitis can affect future eyesight. Is this true or false? (Ngoc, 28 years old, Hanoi ).
Reply:
Blurred vision after conjunctivitis is due to damage to the cornea, accompanied by other symptoms such as excessive, uncontrollable tearing, grittiness, a feeling of a foreign body, and eye pain.
Blurred vision after conjunctivitis requires early treatment to avoid dangerous complications such as corneal ulcers and infections. Many cases of blurred vision after conjunctivitis are due to uveitis, iritis, ciliary body inflammation, or corneal ulcers, leading to poor vision, significant pain, and potentially permanent vision loss if not treated promptly.
If blurred vision after conjunctivitis persists and causes vision loss, you should visit a medical facility for diagnosis, consultation, and timely treatment.
To reduce discomfort from eye pain, you should clean your eyes regularly. You can also apply warm or cold compresses to your eyes.
Wear protective eyewear when going outdoors to avoid exposure to harmful agents. Do not touch or rub your eyes, and allow your eyes to rest regularly and appropriately.
Provide your eyes with the necessary nutrients. Stop using contact lenses if your eyes are inflamed. Avoid sharing cups, bowls, and towels with others to prevent infection. Do not rub your eyes or go swimming, as this will worsen the condition.
Follow your doctor's instructions and seek immediate medical attention if you experience any unusual symptoms.
