At 4:30 PM on October 9, 1954, the last French soldiers withdrew across the Long Bien Bridge, and our army and people completely controlled the city.
On the morning of October 10th, the City Military and Political Committee and the Vanguard Army Corps - 308th Division, divided into several large contingents, launched a march into Hanoi amidst a sea of flags and flowers, with 200,000 people joyfully welcoming the victorious army returning after nine years of protracted resistance. This was a momentous historical event, marking the victorious end of the arduous, sacrificial, yet glorious resistance war against the French, waged by the people of the capital in particular and the entire country in general.
