MANY ACTIVITIES IN SUPPORT
On this occasion, the 2025 Reading Festival at Huynh Van Manh Primary School in Go Cong Tay district took place with great enthusiasm. The program, organized by the Tien Giang Provincial Library in collaboration with local units, attracted the participation of over 300 primary school students.

In a space brimming with the colors of knowledge, children are free to choose their favorite books, participate in storytelling competitions based on books, draw pictures on the theme "Books and Dreams," and introduce books with positive messages. Each activity is a lively, engaging, and educational way to inspire reading.
Beyond just reading, the students also experienced exchanging old books for new ones – a humane model that helps circulate knowledge within the community. The infectious laughter, eager eyes, and passion evident on each student's face demonstrated the enduring appeal of books, especially in rural areas where access is limited.
Continuing the series of activities in response to Book and Reading Culture Day, in early April, the mobile smart library of Tien Giang Provincial Library visited Song Thuan Primary School in Chau Thanh district. This activity is part of the Reading Culture Development Project, which is organized periodically and alternately in many rural schools, contributing to bringing books closer to students.
The mobile library carried hundreds of diverse books, ranging from comics and children's books to self-help books and popular science books. In addition, experiential activities such as puzzle solving, interactive games via touchscreen, quizzes, and storytelling attracted a large number of students.
The introduction of the Smart Library Bus not only creates an intellectual and enriching playground but also contributes to innovating the way reading is organized, helping students develop their initiative and creativity in learning.
Another notable highlight in this year's Book Day activities was the program organized by the People's Committee of Cho Gao District in coordination with the Tien Giang Provincial Library. A series of lively activities took place, including: book displays and introductions; an exhibition of valuable documentary photographs about President Ho Chi Minh; and a drawing and storytelling competition based on books, with enthusiastic participation from primary and secondary school students.
The program is also supported by the Mobile Smart Library Bus, which continues to play a role in bringing books directly to learners and people in rural areas. Through this, it not only encourages students to develop a reading habit but also contributes to the education of traditions, history, and moral values.
Simultaneously, Tien Giang province has been strongly implementing a plan to develop and expand community library models such as: Family libraries, clan libraries, school libraries, and reading-based family bonding initiatives. This is one of the key contents aimed at effectively implementing the Project "Developing a reading culture in the community in the period 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2030".
According to the plan issued by the Provincial People's Committee, the development of bookshelf models is expected to create a diverse reading culture network, closely linked to people's living spaces. Each bookshelf is not only a place to preserve knowledge, but also a space for sharing and connecting generations within families, clans, and communities, thereby raising awareness of the role of reading in modern social life.
The activities in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2025 in Tien Giang demonstrate the close coordination between cultural management agencies, the education sector, and local authorities in developing a reading culture.
This coordinated effort is gradually making books a companion on the learning and growth journey of each student; at the same time, building a sustainable knowledge foundation for the community. From traditional library models to mobile smart libraries, from family bookshelves to district-wide book festivals, all have been creating a widespread reading space, imbued with humanistic spirit and spreading the positive values of reading culture.
In the context of rapid technological development, preserving and promoting reading habits faces numerous challenges. However, practical, vibrant, and creative activities like those recently implemented in Tien Giang demonstrate that reading remains essential in education and holistic human development.
It is not only the responsibility of the Culture or Education sector, but also the responsibility of the entire society to shape and nurture a generation of citizens who love knowledge, live humanely, and appreciate the value of books.
BOOK DAY: REFLECTING ON READING CULTURE
The 2025 Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, with the theme "Every page of a book, a source of pride," reminds each of us of the importance of books and reading culture; at the same time, it is an opportunity to honor books and a call for everyone to become ambassadors of reading culture.

Choosing the right books is the first and most important step. Books are like food for the mind; if chosen correctly, they nourish the intellect and spirit; if chosen incorrectly, they waste time without yielding any results. To choose good books, readers need to proactively research, seek advice from experienced people, and select books from reputable publishers and well-known authors. This will make reading a rewarding and meaningful journey.
However, reading is not simply about turning pages; it requires method and skill. Active reading, which involves reflecting, analyzing, and applying the knowledge to life, helps readers not only acquire knowledge but also develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Each book is a treasure trove of knowledge, and readers must know how to explore and extract lessons for themselves.
In the digital age, reading is no longer limited to paper books but extends to e-books and online platforms. Technology makes it easier for us to access books, but we also need to be selective about information and maintain a reading habit. A reading culture exists not only in libraries but is also vibrant in every learning, exchange, and sharing space.
For every citizen, reading is not just a personal habit, but also an act of spreading a culture of learning and critical thinking. When individuals proactively share knowledge from books with others, they not only enrich themselves but also contribute to building an intellectual community where every citizen is an ambassador of reading culture.
