A March gift to the border region

Let's work together to build and protect the nation's borders.

Along with the vibrant activities of young people nationwide, March is an opportunity for union members, association members, and young people to express their love for their homeland by focusing their efforts on border areas.

At the beginning of the 2024 Border March campaign, it coincidentally coincided with the enthusiastic launch of projects and initiatives by youth union members and young people across the country, contributing to community life during Youth March. The key areas identified were disadvantaged regions, remote areas, border regions, and islands.

Mr. Nguyen Kim Quy, Permanent Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union, said that this year's Border March program is designed with the spirit of "Vietnamese Youth Acting for the Borderlands of the Fatherland," and is one of the activities to concretize the "I Love My Fatherland" movement.

Thanh and his grandmother live in a dilapidated thatched house, which was recently built as a "House of Happiness" by the March Border Program.

His father died of cancer, and when Thanh was two years old, his mother left. For years, Vieng Van Thanh (a third-grade student in Tam Quang commune, Tuong Duong district, Nghe An province) and his grandmother have lived in a dilapidated thatched house that could collapse at any moment during a storm.

Upon learning of Thanh's situation, the Border March program brought joy to him with the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of his "House of Happiness." Notably, Thanh also received sponsorship until he turns 18.

Attending the groundbreaking ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Quang Tuan, commander of the Tam Quang Border Guard Station (Nghe An), said that officers, soldiers, and local authorities would provide labor and assistance to help complete the house as soon as possible.

The delegation also held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Happiness Bridge for the people of Mac village (Thach Giam town, Tuong Duong district), worth 450 million VND. The village has many rivers and streams, so every time there is heavy rain and flooding, the bridge overflows, cutting off and isolating the area, making travel difficult for residents and students.

So, the people of Mac village will soon be happily awaiting the completion of the Happiness Bridge, which will make travel less difficult, especially during rainy and flood seasons.

The bicycles were donated to students in the border area.

Students in mountainous areas now have access to a new computer lab.

At Tuong Duong Ethnic Boarding Junior High School, the organizing committee inaugurated the "Computer Room for Students" and presented warm jackets to the students.

As part of the March Border Month program, border guards and youth union members organized activities to raise awareness about Vietnam's Border Guard Law among students at Tuong Duong 2 High School.

From its initial launch point, the program has spread strongly throughout the country with three main groups of activities. These include promoting propaganda and education among union members, association members, and young people about traditions, love for the homeland, and responsibility for sovereignty and security of borders and islands in the new situation.

In addition, there are activities to express gratitude, exchange ideas, and visit veterans, border guard officers and soldiers, as well as training in professional knowledge for youth volunteer teams ensuring security and order in border areas.

Finally, there is the group of social welfare activities and undertaking youth projects and tasks related to maintaining national security and defense, and developing socio -economic conditions in border provinces.
