Larger scale, wider scope of operations
The merger of the press agencies of An Giang and Kien Giang provinces has created a larger, more diversified press agency with a broader scope of operations and higher demands on its mission. According to Le Van Chuyen, Director of the An Giang Provincial Newspaper and Radio-Television, the biggest advantage of the unit is its large team of reporters, editors, and technicians with expertise in many different fields. This is a crucial resource for fulfilling political tasks and developing journalism in the new era.
However, the increasingly fierce competition among media outlets, between mainstream media and social media platforms; the rapid development of digital technology and artificial intelligence; and the demands for digital transformation and innovation in journalism place significant pressure on journalists accustomed to traditional methods. Therefore, building a cohesive and unified work environment is a top priority for the unit, achieved through the improvement of regulations and rules, creating a democratic and open working environment where staff can develop their abilities, creativity, and adapt to new demands.
Having been involved in journalism for nearly 30 years, Nguyen Xuan Giang, Editor and Director of the Special Programs Department, shared: “What gives me more peace of mind and confidence during the transition is the care and support of the unit's leadership team. This has helped the team of reporters and editors quickly integrate into the new environment, continue to develop their professional capabilities, and adapt to the demands of modern journalism.”
To adapt to the new environment, Giang always proactively updates his knowledge of technology, seeks out new skills, participates in professional training courses, and utilizes modern tools to improve the efficiency of his work. He still maintains the core principles of journalism: accuracy, honesty, and responsibility to the public.
Digital transformation and the economics of journalism
In response to the demands of modern journalism, An Giang Provincial Newspaper and Radio-Television Station has identified digital transformation as a key task, while simultaneously accelerating the development of a converged newsroom focusing on infrastructure, technology, and human resources. Mr. Le Van Chuyen stated: “The unit focuses on applying technology to management, operational processes, data storage, and broadcasting. We are gradually building a modern production process with one input but multiple outputs, ensuring that information is effectively utilized across all platforms.”
Based on that orientation, An Giang Provincial Newspaper and Radio-Television continues to effectively utilize its existing media formats. The unit maintains a print newspaper with 5 issues per week; operates an online newspaper, 2 radio channels, and 3 television channels. Simultaneously, it maintains 7 YouTube channels, 2 TikTok channels, and 4 fanpages, contributing to bringing official information closer to the public across various platforms. Ms. Huynh Thi Dieu Hang, Deputy Head of the Print and Online Newspaper - Digital Content Department, shared: “The biggest change today is the shift from a mindset of producing content for each individual format to a mindset of producing multi-platform content. One piece of information will be developed into many different products to serve various audience groups.”
Along with digital transformation, An Giang province's Newspaper and Radio-Television Station has identified the development of the journalism economy as one of its important tasks to create additional resources for professional activities. According to Mr. Le Van Chuyen, the unit continues to enhance the competitiveness of its journalistic products, promote the value of information copyright, expand service activities, advertising, and program production partnerships. This is an important solution to invest in technology, improve the quality of journalistic products, and gradually build a modern, multimedia media agency.
Affirming the role of the leading press agency.
Innovating operational models, promoting digital transformation, and developing the economic aspects of journalism all aim at the ultimate goal of improving the quality of information and propaganda, better serving political tasks and the information needs of the people. The An Giang Provincial Newspaper and Radio-Television continue to effectively fulfill their role as the mouthpiece of the Party Committee, government, and people of the province; promptly disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations; vividly reflecting socio-economic life, introducing effective models, good practices, exemplary individuals, and issues of public concern. Besides information and propaganda tasks, the unit also maintains many social welfare programs such as "Joining Hands for the Poor," "Emergency Assistance," "Opening the Way to Life," "ATV Supporting Education," etc., contributing to spreading the spirit of compassion and community responsibility.
With the guiding principle of "Digital transformation is the focus, the economics of journalism is the key, and content innovation is the top priority," An Giang Newspaper and Radio - Television are gradually building a modern, multimedia media agency model, continuing to affirm their role as a bridge between the Party, the government, and the people, accompanying the province's development in the new era.
