In that style, the attacking midfielder not only needs to circulate the ball but also apply pressure, support the defense, and provide depth. Mount was born to play this kind of football. Chelsea exploited this, but Manchester United didn't, until now.

“He defends well, attacks well, and the quality of his touches is very high,” Amorim said. That wasn't just polite praise. It was an affirmation that Mount is returning to the best part of his game: his rare versatility and stamina.

Amorim are without Benjamin Sesko due to injury and Mbeumo due to preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations. United lack a game-changer from midfield. Mount has arrived at the right time, filling the exact gap the system needs most.

Mount is a key indicator of his recovery, not the win against Wolves.

A team that wants to improve needs at least one individual who "sends the signal." Last season, MU had Garnacho during his explosive period, and Mainoo towards the end of the season. But this season, all the signals have been lackluster. They haven't had a significant winning streak, and they lack a key player who performs consistently well.

Mount is changing that.

He's not the soul of the team, not a savior. But his current form gives MU a foundation they rarely have: a player who knows how to consistently improve the quality of the game. Not based on inspiration, not on fleeting moments. But on consistency, the most precious luxury at Old Trafford right now.

Mount doesn't need to score 20 goals to be successful. He just needs to maintain the kind of football he's playing: clean, precise, moving a lot, pressing intelligently, and knowing when to be in the right place. Manchester United haven't had a midfielder like that since Herrera, a player who knew how to do everything to keep the system running smoothly.

If Manchester United truly want to change, Mount is the perfect role model: less flashy, more responsible, and consistent week after week. It wasn't the win against Wolves, but Mount himself who shone a light, showing that United can move forward in a more serious way.

Mount hasn't saved the season yet. But he's paving the way for his own comeback, and sometimes, that's more important than a resounding victory.
