The Cameroonian goalkeeper has just suffered a hamstring injury and is expected to be out of action for two months.

Onana's absence at the beginning of the season has given coach Ruben Amorim a headache in finding a solution, because he does not trust second goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

In that situation, MU contacted Botafogo about transferring 29-year-old goalkeeper John Victor - who just made a good impression at the FIFA Club World Cup.

John Victor has a release clause of just £6 million, so Botafogo cannot prevent him from leaving if MU pays the above amount.

In the latest move, Botafogo also quickly chose a replacement for John Victor, Matheus Mendes of Atletico Mineiro, if he agrees to join the Red Devils.

Victor's price is considered cheap in the market for a quality goalkeeper. In the past, he mainly played in the Brazilian championship, having a season playing for Real Valladolid but could not stay.

According to The Athletic, John Victor can compete equally with Andre Onana in the Red Devils' goal thanks to his good reflexes, as well as his impressive passing ability from the back.

In the context that MU has to tighten its belt due to the restriction of PSR law, John Victor is considered a suitable solution that can solve the problem in goal.
