Former Manchester United legend Alan Shearer believes the club needs a number of new signings, in addition to the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

MU are determined to sign Cunha.

"[Cunha] won't make a huge difference for MU; they still need six or seven more players. Cunha is just one of many players (that the club needs in the near future - ed.). However, I understand the team's situation right now," Shearer shared on April 25th.

Manchester United are ready to activate Cunha's £62.5 million release clause at Wolves. The two clubs are in negotiations to reach an agreement. MU hope to complete the deal before the summer transfer window opens.

"I don't know how much they'll pay for Cunha, but I think it will be a lot of money," Shearer added. "Is he talented? Absolutely. Is Cunha a person with personality? Yes, but you see that in most good players, they all have a bit of danger in their style of play."

Manchester United are experiencing their worst season in Premier League history, sitting 14th in the table, just two points ahead of 17th-placed West Ham. The Red Devils were knocked out of the League Cup in the quarter-finals by Tottenham and eliminated by Fulham in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Manchester United are looking to add another striker to bolster their attacking firepower, given the underperformance of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. With his versatility and ability to play well in multiple attacking positions, Cunha is a promising signing for MU.

Manager Ruben Amorim also shared his thoughts on recruiting players like Cunha: "There are many players who want to play for this club. I know everyone is looking at the current problems at MU, but we have a clear idea. I won't say anything more about Cunha. It's impossible to know what will happen in the future."

Besides Cunha, MU are also pursuing Liam Delap of Ipswich Town, a striker with a release clause of £30 million.
