MU believes Anderson's price tag is too high. |
British media outlets have unanimously confirmed that the 23-year-old midfielder is a priority transfer for Manchester United in the summer of 2026. However, the deal faces a major obstacle as Nottingham Forest are demanding a price of up to £120 million for Anderson.
Manchester United's leadership, including co-owner Jim Ratcliffe, CEO Omar Berrada, and the club's technical directors, believe the figure is inflated. While closely monitoring Anderson, the Red Devils will not engage in a protracted bidding war with other clubs.
Forest believes the price is reasonable given Anderson has three years left on his contract and is expected to play a key role for England at the 2026 World Cup . The club also cites similar transfers, such as Moises Caicedo joining Chelsea for £115 million or Declan Rice moving to Arsenal for £105 million, to support their position.
Conversely, MU is expected to raise around £100 million from player sales to reinvest in the squad. This money will be allocated to various positions, including a central midfielder, a left winger, and possibly a left-back.
However, if Forest doesn't lower Anderson's asking price, the Old Trafford club is ready to turn to cheaper options such as Aurelien Tchouameni (Real Madrid), Sandro Tonali (Newcastle United), or Carlos Baleba (Brighton).
Not only are Manchester United tightening transfer spending, but they are also determined to control their wage bill. High-earning players like Casemiro, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho are all on the list of potential departures, paving the way for a more sustainable financial structure at Old Trafford.
