Manchester United will end their 24-day winless streak with a match against Leeds on the morning of April 14th, in the late game of the 32nd round of the Premier League. Previously, public opinion considered playing late in this round a disadvantage for MU, because if their direct competitors all win, the pressure on the "Red Devils" will increase significantly.
However, that scenario didn't unfold. Except for Liverpool's 2-0 victory over Fulham, the teams competing for fourth to eighth place all failed to achieve favorable results. Chelsea suffered a heavy 0-3 defeat at home against Man City, while Aston Villa only managed a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest.
In other matches, Everton and Brentford shared the points with a 2-2 draw, while Newcastle surprisingly lost 1-2 to Crystal Palace.
These results helped MU maintain their third position in the league table even before playing a match, while also preserving a safe distance from their chasing rivals. Currently, they are ahead of Aston Villa due to a better goal difference.
The match against Leeds is therefore pivotal. If they secure all three points, MU will create a three-point gap with Aston Villa, and simultaneously widen the gap with Liverpool to six points. Not only that, the "Red Devils" could also pull ahead of Chelsea by 10 points, or even 13 points if they win again in their next away match at Stamford Bridge.
With the top five Premier League teams qualifying for the Champions League this season, Manchester United have a strong chance of participating in Europe's most prestigious club competition next season.
