MU breathes a sigh of relief as Mbeumo and Amad are involved.

FIFA has allowed Premier League clubs to retain players for an extra week ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

According to the Daily Mail , Premier League teams will only have to release their players on December 15th, seven days later than the original deadline. This is seen as a major boost for many clubs facing the risk of losing a number of key players during the crucial stage of the season.

Manchester United is one of the teams benefiting from this change. Amad Diallo, Bryan Mbeumo, and Noussair Mazraoui are likely to still be available when the Red Devils play Bournemouth on December 15th following FIFA's ruling.

Notably, Mbeumo is MU's main striker this season with 6 goals in 14 matches across all competitions. The absence of this striker, along with Benjamin Sesko's injury, is causing manager Ruben Amorim a headache in finding alternative attacking options.

Besides MU, Liverpool will also be allowed to keep Mohamed Salah for another match, when Arne Slot's team faces Brighton on December 13th. Similarly, Man City can still use Omar Marmoush, Salah's teammate in the Egyptian national team, when they take on Crystal Palace on December 14th.

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to begin on December 21st, with around 45 Premier League players expected to leave their clubs to join their national teams. Four clubs – Arsenal, Chelsea, Leeds, and Newcastle – will not have players participating in the tournament.

Sunderland suffered the biggest blow with a long list of players including Chemesdine Talbi, Simon Adingra, Bertrand Traoré, Arthur Masuaku, Reinildo, Noah Sadiki and Habib Diarra having to leave for CAN 2025.
