MU and Liverpool's dream of recruiting Marc Guehi is shattered

Defender Marc Guehi has made it clear to his agent that he is determined to move to Real Madrid next summer, after a deal to join Liverpool fell through at the last minute.

This is a heavy blow to Liverpool, as they are facing the prospect of losing Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer next summer.

It is known that the £35 million deal for Marc Guehi to Liverpool fell through on the last day of the 2025 summer transfer window, because Crystal Palace could not find a suitable replacement.

Although the Premier League champions hope the deal can be revived early next year, when Guehi's contract is due to expire, that plan is facing many difficulties.

Real Madrid are ready to negotiate directly with the 25-year-old English midfielder. In addition, both MU and Chelsea have also approached to recruit Guehi on a free.

This puts Marc Guehi in a strong position. With no transfer fee next summer, clubs outside England such as Real Madrid can freely negotiate a pre-contract agreement in January.

SunSport further revealed that Guehi also holds a Home Riviera passport so he can join the Royal team as a Spanish citizen.

Marc Guehi's Ivorian passport, issued through his father, falls under the Cotonou Agreement, which allows African footballers to be considered Spanish citizens.

A source close to Guehi said that his first choice is to move to Real Madrid. Therefore, he will reject all offers from Liverpool, MU or Chelsea.
