In April 2024, Dong Giao Export Food Joint Stock Company (Ninh Binh province) collaborated with local authorities in Ha Tinh province to implement a pilot model for pineapple cultivation. In Cam Xuyen commune, the company partnered with the Ngan Ha Pineapple Production Cooperative to plant 20 hectares of pineapples. These days, in the pineapple fields of Thien No village, Cam Xuyen commune, members of the Ngan Ha Pineapple Production Cooperative are busily harvesting. After 18 months, the pineapples ripened to a golden yellow color and were ready for harvest.
The pineapple varieties primarily used in production are Queen and Cayen, which are suitable for the local soil and climate conditions, as well as the processing and consumption requirements of the enterprise. According to a representative of the Ngan Ha Pineapple Production Cooperative, which cultivates 20 hectares of pineapples, the estimated yield is approximately 30 tons per hectare. Currently, the cooperative has harvested 80% of its pineapple crop. Mr. Truong Xuan Ha, head of the Ngan Ha Pineapple Production Cooperative, said: “With an average selling price of 6,000 VND/kg, each hectare generates a total revenue of nearly 180 million VND. Pineapple is a highly profitable crop, and we aim to expand our production area by another 20 hectares in the future.” The cooperative hires additional seasonal workers to ensure the pineapple harvest proceeds on schedule.
