MU wants to offload Ugarte. |
According to Italian media sources, Juventus are ready to spend around 40 million euros to persuade Manchester United to release the player in the upcoming summer transfer window. This price is considered appropriate for the Old Trafford club's squad restructuring plan, as they want to clear out their players after a disappointing season.
This season, Ugarte has only made 23 appearances for MU, mostly from the bench, and has yet to score a goal or provide an assist. These numbers partly reflect the decline of the Uruguayan midfielder and explain why he is no longer in the Red Devils' long-term plans.
Nevertheless, Ugarte's appeal in the transfer market remains very strong. Besides Juventus, AS Monaco is also closely monitoring the player's situation and may join the race in the near future.
If the deal goes through, it could be an opportunity for Ugarte to restart his career in a more suitable environment, while also helping MU recoup some of their investment and pave the way for new signings.
Joining Manchester United with high expectations from PSG, Ugarte was once considered one of the most promising defensive midfielders in Europe. However, he failed to adapt to the high intensity of English football. From being a midfielder recruited to be a starter, Ugarte's form declined and he was relegated to a reserve role at Old Trafford.
