The squid jumping in Vung Ang is back again as expected.

(Baohatinh.vn) - The squid season in Vung Ang (Ha Tinh) runs from February to July of the lunar calendar each year. In recent days, the floating rafts in the Vung Ang squid culinary area have become bustling with visitors.

For nearly half a month now, the floating rafts at the Vung Ang squid food court (Vung Ang ward) have been bustling with activity, serving tourists. Despite being just the beginning of the season, the supply of fresh squid is quite abundant and the quality is consistent.

Freshly caught squid are brought directly into tanks on rafts by fishermen on the same day. This ensures that when visitors come to enjoy them, the squid are still fresh, retaining their crispness and characteristic sweetness. This is precisely what makes this specialty dish so appealing.

According to restaurant owners, despite it being the beginning of the season, the price of live squid remains quite stable. Currently, each kilogram of squid costs between 600,000 and 700,000 VND, depending on size, which is similar to the prices of previous years.

Mr. Chu Van Hau, owner of Hau Thin restaurant (Vung Ang ward), said: "We started selling live squid on the second day of the Lunar New Year and have continued to do so until now. This year, the squid is abundant; even though it's only the beginning of the season, the squid are large, have thick flesh, and are very delicious."

One interesting aspect of enjoying fresh squid in Vung Ang is that visitors can personally select and catch the squid directly from the cages. After selection, the squid will be prepared on the spot by the chefs into various dishes such as steamed, grilled, or salad. This experience offers a novel sensation for visitors.
