Making a living in a fishing village

Nhon Hoi fishing village is located in Nhon Hoi hamlet, O Loan commune, 15 km north of Tuy Hoa ward along National Highway 1.

Every morning, as the sky and sea are still shrouded in twilight, the beach is already bustling with the footsteps of fishermen. Basket boats laden with fish and shrimp return from the open sea after a long night at sea, bringing with them the hope of a bountiful harvest for the new day.

From 4 a.m., Nhon Hoi beach was bustling with stories of seafaring women waiting for the boats to return.

Fish and squid brought ashore are bought and sorted on the spot by fish traders, then sold in markets. For fish that don't sell well, fishermen will process them on the shore to make fish cakes for consumption.

The hard-earned money from sleepless nights at sea, earned by husbands and sons, has sustained dozens of fishing families in this small fishing village.

After a fishing trip, the basket boat is pulled ashore to rest, and a few hours later it will continue to accompany the fishermen on a new journey.
