The project will start in March 3 and be completed in December 2024. The direct beneficiaries of the project are preschool children of 12 ethnic groups: Mong, Ede, Khmer, J'rai, Bahnar, Thai, who are enhanced with Vietnamese on the basis of their mother tongue, helping children develop. language, participate well in activities at preschool and be ready for grade 2026; Primary school students of 6 ethnic groups: Bahnar, Cham, Ede, Khmer, J'rai, Mnong, Mong, Thai have increased opportunities to learn and use their mother tongue, and access documents about their culture. our nation; Children with disabilities are supported with inclusive education and specific skills to gradually integrate and learn more effectively.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Chi affirmed that this is a very meaningful event for Vietnamese education and especially for children in ethnic minority areas and disadvantaged children. .
The Deputy Minister shared that in recent times, Vietnamese education has made progress, education from preschool to university has fundamentally changed, thereby ensuring children's learning needs and right to education. , pupil.
Besides changes and efforts, according to Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Chi, Vietnamese education still faces many difficulties, especially in remote areas. Although there have been changes in policies and health, children with disabilities still account for a large proportion and are in dire need of the attention and cooperation of families, schools, and society.
“Today, we are very pleased that the Global Partnership for Education, Nippon Foundation and Save the Children have targeted the support groups that Vietnam is in dire need of: children in ethnic minority areas. numbers and children with disabilities. The project to improve the quality of education for ethnic minority children and children with disabilities in Vietnam is 100% funded by the GPE Foundation and NIPPON with a total cost of 121 billion VND, equivalent to 5,15 million USD. .
The project includes 3 components: Ensuring that ethnic minority children of preschool age have enhanced access to Vietnamese on the basis of their mother tongue; Strengthening the use of mother tongue and preserving the culture of ethnic minorities in primary schools, led by the Department of Ethnic Education; Strengthen inclusive education for disabled children and ethnic minority children. |
