In August 2025, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngan (56 years old, residing in Ha Khau 7 area, Viet Hung ward) sought examination and treatment at the Provincial Geriatric and Rehabilitation Hospital due to paralysis of both legs following injuries from a traffic accident. After more than four months of intensive treatment using various new methods, advanced medical equipment, and a dedicated and professional team of technicians, Ms. Ngan has gradually regained her motor function and can now walk short steps on her own.
Recognizing that improving the professional skills and capabilities of medical staff is a crucial factor determining the quality of patient examination and treatment, the Party Committee and Board of Directors of the hospital regularly send doctors, nurses, and technicians for training and professional development at higher-level hospitals and reputable universities; at the same time, they organize on-the-job training and professional development; and encourage doctors and nurses to actively participate in scientific research to enhance their knowledge and professional skills.
In 2025, the hospital will have 18 scientific research projects and 10 technical initiatives approved at the institutional level. Many of these initiatives have proven effective, such as: Applying artificial intelligence (AI) to support image analysis in screening for retinal diseases in Quang Ninh province; Training caregivers for communication therapy for autistic children at home through the Telehealth platform; Applying artificial intelligence (AI) and the Canva tool to designing learning materials and creating lesson plans for children with developmental disorders…
The hospital has also built a team of medical staff with a friendly, polite, and civilized communication style, demonstrating dedication and creating a positive impression on patients and their families during visits. By 2025, the hospital's bed occupancy rate is expected to reach 127.8%. The satisfaction rate of the public with medical services is projected to exceed 95%.

Along with the Geriatric and Rehabilitation Hospital, other medical units in the province have also proactively and actively improved medical ethics and reformed their service style. Mr. Le Ky Truong, Director of Dong Trieu Regional General Hospital, shared: With the motto "Putting the patient at the center," along with changing the style and attitude of service, the hospital has also promoted administrative reform, improved the examination process, and applied digital transformation in management and medical examination and treatment. Currently, all patient records are processed on computers, helping to shorten the process and time for examination and treatment.
The hospital has implemented online appointment scheduling via phone and website to minimize waiting times for patients and allow them to proactively arrange their appointments; it has also strengthened feedback channels through hotlines, websites, fan pages, and suggestion boxes, ensuring that all suggestions are received and processed promptly, openly, and transparently for the satisfaction and trust of the public.
In 2025, the hospital received 180,770 patients for examination and treatment, including 19,724 inpatients, representing 102.7% of the figure for the same period in 2024. Surveys showed a patient satisfaction rate of 97.8%, and a return patient rate of 99.76%.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, said: To continue building the image of dedicated, responsible, and professional doctors in Quang Ninh, on December 8, 2025, the Department issued công văn (official document) No. 6146/SYT-VP directing the entire sector to strongly implement solutions to improve medical ethics in order to concretize the spirit of the Politburo and the Ministry of Health's directive on reforming and perfecting the health system in the new situation. Accordingly, health units in the province need to focus on cultivating a sense of responsibility, compassion, dedication, and professional service attitude in accordance with the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh for the team of medical staff; building a civilized and friendly hospital environment, considering patients as the center; Regularly organizing thematic activities, seminars, and training sessions linked to real-life situations helps staff understand regulations and standards and apply them appropriately in their daily work, thereby better meeting the healthcare needs of the people.
